Description

The .3 uses a less premium textile mesh coated with silicone compared to the Primeknit material of the top-end model. The soleplate is also made to be a single plastic piece, designed with the looks of the Controlframe's split stud build. Also the grip element is changed from the Demonskin rubber spikes to Demonscale graphic print. How does the Demonscale differ from the Demonskin? Grip – Freak grip elements are small and spaced out, not stiffening the Primeknit; not the same with the Edge as discussed; grip levels are the same; Zoneskin more durable than the Demonskin spikes, which might have issues with a piece or two falling off Given the points mentioned above, it’s obvious that the Predator Freak is the generally better boot than the Edge. Here’s SR4U’s comparison video and a summary of its points: If there is one boot that visually matches its name to perfection, it has got to be the adidas Predator Freak. Covered in a very unique, aptly named rubber DEMONSKIN pattern, the Freak leaves nothing to the imagination, creating an effect that matches the wildest Predator looks we have seen released in the past. Thin tongue may cause lace bites; number of lace crossovers not enough and may place unnecessary pressure on the lace holes

Upper – Freak’s Primeknit may not be a standout in comfort, but it still moves and wraps around the foot decently; again the Edge’s Primeknit, perhaps due to the Zoneskin, is just plain stiff As a Predator release, they match the DNA you expect from the silo, maybe more so than other previous releases because of how aggressive they are. But, I get the get feeling that adidas are trying a little too hard, adding elements just to create more of a WOW factor. The collar is a little challenging to get into, and the added DEMONSKIN seems a little over the top. So, for me, the low cut version that is trimmed down seems like a much more “sensible” boot option. Retail Details

Frequently Asked Questions

Going to the laced Predator Edge, you get two options: one with the Facefit collar and one with an angled low-cut finish. As expected from any adidas silo, it’s only the laces that make the difference, though the Predator adds a twist by adding a high-cut option for the .1. All in all, as pointed out by Josh of SR4U in the video, the current combination of the Zoneskin, Primeknit, and lacing setup is not that great of a remix. Go for your normal boots size as this fit true to size. Width is relatively constant from rear to front and will accomodate even players with slightly wide foot shape. How much does the Predator Freak.3 costs? It took me a few wears at practice before I felt comfortable getting them into a game, and I feel like many of you will have a very similar experience. It is just tough to adjust to the laceless style and compression fit, they cause you to cramp and take several wears to loosen up and mould to your foot shape. So, if you can, take your time breaking them in. Really allow them to stretch and open up before pushing them into game action. Despite the change from spikes to ribs, the Predator Edge is on par with the grip level set by the Freak and the Mutator and still feels like grabbing the ball literally. You can’t go wrong with the Predator Edge if you are looking for a boot that really does aid your first touch and ball control!

Demonscale adidas do have Kid-specific makes for the Predator Freak.3 available in Laceless and Laced Collared only. Does the Freak.3 have other soleplate versions for muddy pitches, 3G Turf, or Futsal courts? adidas do have Kid-specific makes for the Predator 20.3 available in FG-specific and MG soleplates. Does the 20.3 have other soleplate versions for muddy pitches, 3G or Turf? The 20.3 uses a less premium textile mesh coated with silicone compared to the Primeknit material of the top-end model. The soleplate is also made to be a single plastic piece, designed with the looks of the ControlFrame's split stud build. Also the grip element is changed from the Demonskin to Demonscale. How does the Demonscale differ from the Demonskin? The obvious purpose of the Predator range is to enhance and compliment ball striking, especially for players that like to get extra power behind their strikes. If we are to look at the Predator Freak in terms of power, they fit the bill and provide some extra pop behind shots. That I can completely agree with and it is something you will notice as you are strike shots or long passes.
