In this case, the piano will need polyphony not only for the notes you’re playing but also for the backing track. There are four buttons on the top of the console which are ON/OFF, Volume up, Volume down and Function.

Roland's RH-200 Headphones deliver the power, comfort and accuracy needed for a variety of personal monitoring needs. The connectors are similar with built-in Bluetooth Connectivity covering MIDI (there’s compatibility with Roland’s Piano Partner) but no Bluetooth Audio, USB Type A and B (use this to connect to a DAW) and a single headphone output, but the FP-10 does not have any discreet line output jacks. We have been in business for over 30 years and will always do our best to be as competitive as possible.

At the heart of the FP-10 is Roland’s famous SuperNATURAL sound engine, which you’ll find in pretty much all Roland digital pianos these days. For that reason, the PX-160 is often compared to more expensive keyboards such as the Roland FP-30 and Yamaha P-125. But I wouldn’t say it’s something of a necessity here since there are not that many functions and settings to navigate. You’d prefer a full-size 88-note piano – but don’t have the room for a regular cabinet in your home.

Plus, with Bluetooth and MIDI connectivity, you can connect with a world of Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) and apps ranging from Apple GarageBand to Roland’s Piano Partner 2*. First of all, many of today’s digital pianos use stereo samples, which sometimes require two or even more notes for each key played.

I found interesting what you wrote about the Sharp paper, I found them on auction on TAS and saved it, just in case I could not get mine's, but let's us know if the Sharp rolls do fit in the Casios' printer. Here’s the big reason why this would be sorely mistaken and why the FP-10 is still 100% relevant – the presence of the PHA4 action. You may wonder how it is possible to have 32, 64, or even 128 notes playing at the same time, if there are only 88 keys and we never play them all at once. The only digital pianos that come to mind that are even more compact are the newly introduced Casio PX-S1000 and PX-S3000, which are only 9” (23 cm) in depth. Dual Mode allows you to layer two sounds so that they sound at the same time when you play the keys.

While there is a nice texture on the keys, all in all, the PHA4 action is undoubtedly a better key action, both on paper and in practice. One big surprise when getting these two digital pianos side by side was how well the FP-10 speakers actually stack up against the S1100. Equally well-known is Roland’s subsidiary Boss, under whose brand name it designs and sells principally guitar pedals and effects units.
