About this deal

Celaena Sardothien is her kingdom's most feared assassin. Though she works for the powerful and ruthless Assassin's Guild, Celaena yields to no one and trusts only her fellow killer for hire, Sam. Celaena, of course, is our main character. Nehemia is her token woc bff. Kaltain is the stereotypical mean girl. Queen Georgina likes to do nothing but watch people dance and tell her son he should get married. Philippa is Celaena's maid, who tells her she's beautiful despite laboring in a salt mine for a year. And Queen Elena is a ghost who cheerleads Celaena and gives her cryptic advice.

Queen Elena: ancient half-fae queen known for her beauty and grace and purity and stuff. There's really not much else to say aside from a side-eye of yet another stereotypical queen trope. Oh, did I mention she is also super pale and blonde and beautiful. She and Nehemia would probably wrestle for the presidency of the Celaena Sardothien fanclub, were Elena corporeal. I guess they can now, SINCE THEY'RE BOTH DEAD. With all the guy "team" talk I've seen, I had no idea which way I would go with this one... but I'm totally Team Choal. There's just something about him I really enjoyed. Maybe his total unwillingness to accept his feelings for Calaena, or maybe how protective and strong her came off. Either way, he was totally *SWOON* in my opinion! To be honest,” he went on … “I’m disappointed. ... You didn’t even stop to think twice about it, did you?” SAME!!! I’m heartbroken, angry, and running to the next book! A month after finally being free from her Master Arobynn Hamel, after paying her and Sam Cortland’s debt off, living in her own place away from the Guild, Celaena Sardothien thought things would work out. She’d walked away from her life as Arobynn’s protégée. A decision she did not regret especially not after he had betrayed her, he’d humiliated, lied, and used her. Then to top it off he used her money she paid to free herself to win Lysandra’s Bidding just to spite her. But now she wanted a fresh start to move away with Sam but she needed Arobynn’s blessing to do so, but what would it cost her this time to do so?Maas is an expert at cultivating DREAD. It may not be as stealthy here, what with us already knowing that Celaena---in some context---has failed, but that doesn't negate the fear, the roil in your belly, as you push yourself to keep reading, to find out what happened, what went wrong, so that at least then . . . it will be over.

She says she knew she wanted to be a writer when she was 11 or 12 years old. It was at this age that she read fantasy for the first time. In the third novella- The Assassin and the Desert- She finally reaches the Red Desert to the Silent Assassins keep in the middle of the desert. Where she is tested by the mute master and here she meets her first friend Ansel. She keeps thinking about Sam. She trains here with the other assassins. When one day Ansel and Calaena go into town they steal two Asterion horses kingdoms worth. The mute master is very angry with them but is impressed when Calaena takes the blames even though Ansel was the one behind it. Ansel betrays her and everybody at silent assassins keep. She saves the mute master who in return gives her trunks full of gold to pay off her debts. Discover Sarah J. Maas's #1 New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series now available for a limited time in a brand-new miniature format! This exclusive edition highlights Celaena Sardothien. I remember when I first read The Assassin’s Blade, I absolutely adored Celaena Sardothien, shining Assassin, so fierce but equally fabulous! I love that she’s a bookworm, too! She enjoys the finer things in life but will not hesitate to end a life when justice isn’t being carried out or if she thinks someone deserves it! Yet, beneath her steely exterior, she’s quite fragile! She admits to Sam, her often competitor but more often than not total ally, that she’s a coward, but this is where Sam himself utters that phrase that breathes hope into Celaena when she needs it the most: I WANT HIM TO ROT IN HELL!!!! Please someone tell me that he’s going to die for what he did to Celaena and Sam!!! Please someone tell me that he’s going to suffer in one of the next books, because I can’t live on if I know that he’ll never get his punishment!!! I HATE HIM WITH A FIERCE PASSION AND I WON’T REST UNTIL HE’S SIX FEET UNDER!!! ARGH! Just to think about him makes me so angry!! Who is he to do things like that?! To betray them the way he did?! To kill Sam just because he loved Celaena!? I hate you Arobynn!!! I despise you with all my heart! This will let you keep Chaol’s story cohesively together, as well as make sure you aren’t begrudging the cliffhanger at the end of Empire of Storms. I won’t go into detail until I reach my characters section, also known as “The Spoiler Zone”, but for those of you who are afraid to read the entire book because they know what’s going to happen and don’t want to be heartbroken here’s a little tip: You can read the first four novellas without regret! Sam’s still alive until the last story!!! Just thought I’d let you know! ;-P

Read the stunning prequel to the epic saga Time Magazine called, "One of the best fantasy series of the past decade." There are five novellas in this book an every single story is so carefully woven that you can’t help but have to get lost in it! I enjoyed them immensely and even though the first two stories weren’t all that exceptional they still contributed to the overall plot! ;-) It’s funny, even though I knew what was well coming, I just was evry bit emotional as the first, second, third, fourth, fifth time reading it! I felt Celaena’s anticipation, her desperation, her grief, feeling like everything was a void, knowing that someone betrayed her, causing her to lose everything she held close. Utter despair, however, turns into total determination not to break further and ready to face what’s to come. Maybe I'm confused, but I've never supposed that assassins are meant to go around killing EVERYONE indiscriminately. And she's not just an assassin. She's the King of Assassins' heir. Adarlan's Assassin.I really like the vivid, complex, and mysterious world Maas is creating here. Though the novellas only visit a handful of locations, I'm looking forward to visit all the places as the series progresses. The plot-line, which is being established as a single continuous thread in these five novellas, is plenty intriguing to make anyone curious about next books. Right now, it's a little too overwhelming to imagine in which particular areas, or in which particular sequence, the events would take place, but I'm hoping it'll be an exciting journey. I have conflicting feelings about a lot of YA in general (or maybe New Adult? I can't seem to figure out where the lines are between the two). Most of the conflicting feelings stem from the treatment of female characters and/or feminist/attempted feminist messages in the narrative (to the surprise of exactly no one who knows anything about me). I feel like Throne of Glass is a very good example of the books I have problems with. Free and independent, Celaena feels that the world is opening the doors. But after a month, she and Sam have not yet received any contract. Realizing that they are still in the grip of Arobynn, they decide to take the plunge: to leave Rifthold for good. More motivated than ever Sam and Celaena accept a dangerous assignment that pays well, but at what price? Freedom and love that slowly, slowly disappear before their eyes, just when they had begun to taste it. Destroyed and without Sam with her, Celaena is sent to Endovier. But in that hell she makes a promise to herself; she will find out who hurt her and Sam. Because her name is Celaena Sardothien and she will never be afraid. Discover Sarah J. Maas's #1 New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series now available for a limited time in a brand-new miniature format! This exclusive edition highlights Sam Cortland. Then you read Throne of Glass and it's surprising anyone puts up Celaena at all, not to mention how both the Crown Prince and Captain of the Royal Guard somehow both fall in love with her because while she may be a murder, she has a heart of gold. Oh, and she reads.
