Music education in postcolonial Hong Kong has undergone dramatic changes, including the development of national identity through music educationnational identity through music education. Given that technology is embedded in children’s lives, playing an important part in their ‘multimodal lifeworlds’ (Arnott and Yelland, 2020), it is timely to consider what value this use has in relation to play and creativity, as both are highly significant to children’s development (Broadhead, Howard and Wood, 2010). In Experiment 1, we asked 3-year-old children to self-pace through chord progressions from Bach chorales (sequences in which metrical, harmonic, and melodic contour grouping cues aligned) by pressing a computer key to present each chord in the sequence. Vignette 2 considers the aural and physical environment and the role recorded music can play in affect regulation.

This article explores what this latest trend might mean for the development, behaviour and play of very young children. However, when comparing between the two subgroups significant differences surfaced concerning parent-initiated music activities in the home environment. Music is weaved within our cultures; it is ever‐present within daily‐life and can considerably influence our mood, well‐being and relationships. This study investigated parental beliefs, aspirations, and use of music in the home by five families and identified MELP structures that support parenting.

The Ward Infant Language Screening Test, Assessment, Acceleration and Remediation (WILSTAAR) comprises a programme for identifying and helping 8-10-month-old infants showing early signs of language and communication difficulty. Young (2008) reported on the significance that attending external groups had on the musical repertoire parents were using at home, suggesting that parents may be "relying heavily on baby and toddler groups to learn the song and rhyme repertoire they use at home" (Young, 2008, 39). From the process of analysis, the responses to the interviews were grouped into three main areas: musical resources; recorded music from audio and mixed-media sources; and singing and song repertoire. It draws on a wealth of examples from radio (disk jockey and newsreading speech, radio plays, advertising jingles, news signature tunes), film soundtracks (The Piano, The X-files, Disney animation films), music ranging from medieval plain chant to drum 'n' bass and everyday soundscapes. However, animated mother goose songs are a visual treat for children which keep them mesmerized for a longer period of time but they have actually failed in developing a relationship between mothers and children because of lack of involvement of mothers and resistance among kids to quit watching animated mother goose songs even after hours. Developing technology has also caused changes in the musical environment at home, and technology has become a part of the music environment at home (Lum, 2008; Young, 2008). Parents finally reported that listening to music together helps families feel more connected and strengthened their relationships.The relationship between musical and linguistic skills has received particular attention in infants and school-aged children.
