Capacitors containing polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) - Historically PCBs were used extensively in electrical equipment such as capacitors and transformers. However, their use in open applications was widely banned in 1972 and they have not been used in the manufacture of new equipment since 1986. Plants that had been installed prior to 1986 were allowed to continue until the end of their working life. Thus it should be assumed that capacitors manufactured before 1976 contain PCBs. However, unless an appliance is more that 20 years old the chance that it contains capacitors containing PCBs is very remote. All uses of PCBs were to be phased out by the year 2000. For guidance re capacitors containing polychlorinated biphenyls see " Do you know how to work safely with PCBs? As we age, the body produces less of the antidiuretic hormone that helps us retain fluid. This results in increased urine production, especially at night. Muscles in the bladder can also become weak over time, making it more difficult to hold urine in the bladder. Spending time preparing your child in advance of taking their nappy away is the best way to help them move on to the next step.

It's not always possible to prevent urinary incontinence, but there are some steps you can take that may help reduce the chance of it happening.Leave your child’s nappy or pull-up off for up to 30 minutes after your child has had a wee or poo. This will help them get used to not wearing it without having an accident This type of incontinence often occurs as part of a group of symptoms called overactive bladder syndrome, which is when the bladder muscle is more active than usual. The Waste Resources Action Programme (WRAP) have made available online good practice guidance on the collection of WEEE and processing of WEEE (including sections on treatment of WEEE and health and safety policies and procedures) directed at different audiences including AATFs and waste management companies which inspectors may find useful. Guidance on specific substances/components

Overflow incontinence, also called chronic urinary retention, is when the bladder cannot completely empty when you pass urine. This causes the bladder to swell above its usual size. The amount of urine passed is usually small, but stress incontinence can sometimes cause you to pass larger amounts, particularly if your bladder is very full. Urge incontinence

By starting the learning process before 18 months, it means that when you decide to stop using nappies or pull-ups, your child will already have some skills they need to make the move to pants and potty easier for them and less stressful for you both. Once they are pooing comfortably again, it will be easier to gradually move them away from their nappy No single treatment works for everyone, and there is no conclusive evidence they work. You may need to try several treatments to find one that works for you. If the GP thinks you have overflow incontinence, they may suggest a test called a residual urine test to see how much urine is left in your bladder after you pee.

Many children with autism find a sudden change in routine or habit difficult. Therefore, the more you can do before you stop using nappies the better, as this will make this transition as gentle as possible for them. Cutting down on caffeine is another self-help option. Remember that it can be found in cola and some painkillers, as well as in tea and coffee. Trying cutting it out completely for a week and see if it makes any difference. If it does you might want to consider giving it up completely, cutting down, or just reserving it for 'special occasions' like a meal in a restaurant where you know a toilet is nearby. The same approach can be taken for alcohol, which some people find aggravates their OAB. If this is done, your surgeon may need to create an alternative way for pee to leave your body. Things you can do to help BPS (interstitial cystitis) If you have urinary incontinence, cut down on alcohol and drinks containing caffeine, such as tea, coffee and cola. These can cause your kidneys to produce more urine and irritate your bladder. The most common cause of frequent urination is a urinary tract infection (UTI), which occurs when bacteria invade the urethra. It is common to have burning or pain when weeing if you have an infection. If your increased need to urinate is accompanied by blood in your urine and abdominal pain, make an appointment to see your GP. Symptoms can worsen considerably if the UTI spreads to your kidneys, so it's important to seek medical attention. Your doctor will diagnose nighttime urination by evaluating your symptoms and performing a physical examination. They may ask certain questions to determine potential causes for the condition.
