Detention takes a dark turn when the student behind Bayview High’s infamous app About That dies from a peanut allergy—and every witness has a different reason for wanting him gone. It isn’t long before the police discover that the unpublished entry was edited, and Cooper’s secret relationship is brought to light. Cooper becomes ostracized in school and at home. As police and public suspicion increase, the four students begin secretly getting together to compare notes, hoping to clear their names. Before detention is over for the day, Simon is dead, and apparently, it wasn't an accident. It's not long before investigators discover that the next day, Simon was planning to publish items about Cooper, Bronwyn, Addy, and Nate—items which could potentially destroy all of their lives. Suddenly the four of them are the suspects in Simon's murder, and are pariahs among their fellow students, most of whom hated Simon until he died, then turned him into a tragic figure. One of Us Is Next was really predictable. The mystery was barley a mystery and the ending was pretty bad.

Second, a side character was also said to be depressed and she was his accomplice. She framed his death on the other 4 students by planting evidence. Through her, depression is villainized once again. I have to admit that a big part of why I liked the book so much was because of Nate. Compare to the other members of Bayview Four (the stars of the previous book), I’m extremely elated that he’s being referenced a fair amount of time and tagged along in some of the scenes. If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t have rated this like I did. Yeah, I know, I’m totally biased and hopelessly besotted with some cliche and fictional teenage bad boy. #SorryNotSorry Bronwyn: Well, I’d like to try. I f you want to. Not because we’re thrown together in this weird situation and I think you’re hot, altough I do. Even though I predicted the whodunit less than halfway through, I still ended up genuinely enjoying the story.Every time I walk into the living room my wife is watching Pretty Little Liars or Revenge or Riverdale or Veronica Mars or . . . well, you get the idea. Sometimes I watch a bit with her. As I started this book I immediately thought “this book will be perfect for her – it’s the same type of thing”!

The whole school starts playing Truth or Dare. Some enjoy it and they choose Dare. Some hate it, ignore the warning and an awful truth about them is revealed. One of us is a lying book story about a brain, an athlete, a princess, a criminal, and a “basket case” who go into custody – but only the first four make it out alive. Name It features attractive, mostly unknown actors who carry their roles appropriately. No Oscars or Emmys for this group. Viewers who don't enjoy seeing two boys in passionate, romantic embrace should skip this series. This book is so problematic and most of it is NEVER challenged. First of all, can we talk about the immense amounts of slut-shaming? I could handle it if it was coming just from the characters and/or was actually being challenged consistently, but 1) it isn't challenged every time in the dialogue, and 2) the author contributes to the slut-shaming narrative regarding women cheating.

My personal favorite was Addy - I truly had a soft spot for her! Her individual storyline and development is something so important. I was rooting for her the whole way through and was cheering her on at every step of the way. I'm sure that they are people reading this book who are in the same situation as her, and I really, really hope that their eyes might be opened with the help of Addy's portrayal. If you enjoyed One of Us is Lying - I definitely recommend reading the sequel! Read it - I dare you! 😉 ⁣At first, I only cared about Bronwyn’s and Nate’s POVs, they seemed the most plausible of them all and I was rooting for them to be together, like seriously. They were completely adorable and, oddly enough, perfect for each other. One of Us Is Lying is rated 15 and up. As per the rating given to the book One of us is lying, it is allowed to be read with adults which means you can read it in the presence of an adult, and adult presence is necessary as it may contain material that parents may find inappropriate for their children.

Finally there is Nate....the sultry badboy drug dealer with attachment issues that ends up being sweeter than Winnie the Pooh in honey....yup you better believe it....I'm not lying As the story moved forward, I started warming up towards Addy and Cooper, respectively, with each chapter something about their lives being unravelled. Addy’s mother teaches her that the only way to keep a man is to keep him sexually satisfied. She and her boyfriend make out on her bed, and it’s clear she means to have sex with him. Through the course of the story, she begins to question her mom’s advice and eventually decides to take a break from dating and be herself. romance: I thought it was tolerable, but instead of being a sub plot, it had a big focus on it and I feel as if it may have taken away from the actual story. Why did I end up caring about this romance more than the main conflict?? Though the way things played out with the romance, I didn't like (see summary). But because you’re smart, and funny, and you do the right thing more often than you give youerself credit for.

the writing and the pacing had me feeling like I was binge watching an addictive Netflix series. If that's not an indicator of a good book then I don't know what is. The Prom Queen who has never been able to find herself as a separate person from her long term boyfriend. The group hears a car accident in the parking lot, and Mr. Avery leaves to investigate. When the students go to the window to look, Simon drinks a cup of water and has a severe allergic reaction. Nate frantically searches for Simon’s EpiPen. When he can’t find it, he sends Cooper to the clinic to get one, but the EpiPens have all been removed. The ambulance arrives, but it’s too late to save Simon.
