There is some variation between manufacturers, but lenses generally are 15-40% VLT for bright to normal conditions and 40-70% VLT for cloudy and snowy days. And the build quality also fell short of what we’re used to from the I/O line—there was a noticeable gap between the lens and frame in one corner. Plus, getting them on is effortless, even with gloved hands – just pull it over with ease and be ready to go in no time! Moreover, there's a faint line and a small amount of distortion right at the curve in the lens (while skiing, however, the line is not noticeable).

Not only is it incredibly sturdy, but it also fits 1 pair of ski goggles and extra lenses, making sure all your ski must-haves stay safe when you're zooming down the slopes. If your ski gear is even a few years old, there’s new technology out there that will help make good days on the snow even better. We’ve had mixed experiences with photochromic lenses over the years: The adjustable tint can be slow to react to changing conditions, and they often run too dark. The MFI in the M4’s name is for the included magnetic clip-in facemask, which combines with the goggle to create a blocker system against driving wind and snow without fogging the lens. With hinges on the sides of the Lightyear's frame, you can push the lens away to create enough separation to quickly dissipate moisture and avoid fog buildup. No more fumbling around trying to get all your ski gear out of the bag; the zipper opens up nice and wide so you can just grab what you need quickly.

The large, angled brim on the Bern Watts is one of the worst offenders and limits its compatibility to mostly medium-sized goggles. The most important factor is tint: lenses in either yellow or amber provide excellent contrast on overcast days and flat light, making them ideal for skiing and snowboarding.A quality pair of ski goggles can do a lot to improve visibility on the slopes, but if they get all fogged up, it doesn’t really matter what you’re wearing. And should you invest in a second lens, the quick-change isn’t exactly quick by most people’s standards and less intuitive than modern options (we’ll admit to turning to YouTube for a tutorial). The Fall Line XM does buck the quick-change trend and sticks to their somewhat clunky Ridgelock lens-swapping system, but we do appreciate that it provides a very solid seal with no room for wind to sneak through.

Bolle’s Freeze is the kind of cheapo goggle that’s perfect for a first-time skier or to keep in your bag as a backup. Yellow-tinted lenses help to reduce glare and make shapes stand out better so that rocks, trees, and dips in terrain become more visible. Like the legendary line from Smith, you get a medium fit, two high-quality lenses, plush three-layer foam, and great all-around visibility. And it is not just about the protection and comfort, GOGGLOVER is devoted to make you stand out from the crowd and express your unique personality. It also feels quite a bit heavier, which means the goggle doesn’t fade as much into the background throughout the day. In the end, the Dragon isn’t one of our favorites, but it's a solid pickup if you happen to find it on sale.
