Description

Some people struggle to walk with buggy boards. Common complaints from users are that they're unable to take proper strides when pushing a buggy with a stroller platform attached as their feet catch on the board. Others say that it’s bad for posture or that they struggle to reach the pushchair handle over their child when they’re using the ride-on. However a side car buggy board such as the Roma Uptown Ride may solve this issue.

As the name suggests, the mini board is a compact model making it more suitable for for umbrella-fold type strollers. The BuggyBoard Maxi, on the other hand, is perfect for larger strollers; it comes with BIGGER WHEELS that helps raise the board, and also makes it easier going over bumpy ground. You no longer have to think about double buggies or bulky, less well-made alternatives. Instead, the Maxi is a triumph of design and innovation that won’t let you down. From keeping the ride smooth as you bump along various terrain to giving your tot the comfort they need on the go, the Maxi will transform any journey with your growing family. If you hate faffing about with fiddly gadgets, you can breathe easy thanks to the Bumprider Stroller Board. The manufacturer of this buggy board claims that it’s almost totally universal and doesn’t require tools for attachment to your buggy. Music to the ears of those of us who are, ahem, less than adept at DIY. Best of all, the seat is incredibly comfy for little bottoms and there are also built-in handlebars that kids will find really fun (while also helping to keep them secure). The seat can be easily removed, if your child prefers to stand during their ride.Just because you own a buggy board doesn’t mean it needs to be trailing behind your pram all day long! Parents on our Mumsnet talk boards often discuss the merits of buggy boards and are always keen to report on the best performing products - and the ones that fall short of expectations too. We've collated a list of the best buggy boards that Mumsnetters have tried, tested and rave about to put together this handy guide. Maximum child’s weight: Up to 20kg as a stroller board, up to 50kg as a scooter | Suitable for: Most prams via universal connectors What we love

Whether you have a tired child or are in a hurry, the Maxi is one of the safest ride-on platforms on the market. It is the perfect antidote to a tantrum and ensures your toddler is safe while walking along busy roads and through car parks. Easy to detach It is important that any child using the BuggyBoard has enough space to stand comfortably. However, due to the number of combinations possible across pushchair brands (regarding positioning of carrycots, whether seats are forward/rear facing, the ability of the pushchair handle to slide out, accessories you may have attached etc.) we are unable to illustrate everything. Only you can recognise if your child has enough space to stand comfortably. The buggy board attaches easily to the frame of the stroller with a simple connector. The strap wraps around the tubing of the stroller. When you need to fold the stroller, the board detaches simply and you are ready to fold your stroller, with the connectors still attached. When you are ready to use the stroller, simply attach the buggy board again, and you’re ready to go. The Lascal Maxi is a standing board which doesn’t come with a seat. However, there’s an option to buy a compatible ‘saddle’, which can be bought separately if you decide your child would be happier sitting down. The saddle doesn’t come cheap so you’d have to factor this into the overall price if you want a seated buggy board. When compared to the other seated buggy board on our list, the BumpRider Sit Stroller Board, the Lascal Maxi works out as being quite a bit more expensive. What really stands out is the adapters which allow you to make the arms longer if needed. So you don’t need to worry about the board restricting the wheels of your pram.

If you have more than one small child, you may find a buggy board an ideal way to upgrade your buggy or stroller to carry your older child, rather than investing in a double buggy that may only be used for a few months. Reviewers say that buggy boards are handy for short trips out when you need to keep everyone moving at a faster pace than toddler speed.Read next: How to clean a pram, including tried-and-tested tips from Mumsnetters What's the best buggy board? Similarly, if you use a BuggyBoard Saddle, the seat accessory designed for use with the BuggyBoard Maxi, you need to be sure that your child has adequate space to sit/stand comfortably. They should always sit rear facing. PROS: Universal product (Maxi size fits all strollers but Mini size fits only small lightweight strollers such as Combi)
