About this deal

In terms of handling, the Blon is much easier to move than the HBB Khan, which requires much more power to shine on par with the BL-Max. The treble region on both of these sets is very well done. The Zero sounded brighter with better outward extension to the XHBB’s warmer and more ardent and impassioned replay. Obviously, in regard to technicalities the Zero pulled ahead across the board. The Zero is drier and more analytical, yet still retains a certain musicality. The XHBB has a more of a full sound, weightier in all regions with a more accurate timbre in my opinion. Which one to choose? You should treat this review as the subjective impressions of an audio geek rather than an “objective truth” about the IEM. Your experience with any IEM would change depending on your DAC/AMP, music library, ear tips, and listening volume. 7Hz Salnotes Zero Sound These IEMs are not something that aims to look boutique in their aesthetics but at the same time have their own original design that is nice to see. CNC Aluminum Faceplate, Resin ShellThe earphone is characterized by a unique logo that is reflective of HBB’s Hawaiian roots-a combination of audio and design. This design has been etched directly into an CNC processed Aluminum faceplate that now matches the clear resin shell. The CNC aluminum alloy faceplate adds durability without weighing you down.

These have surprisingly good audio and sound stage. I did give them a tat on the high end (EQ) but I do like a little sparkle in the sound. And of course, the bass is amazing - deep, thunderous and boomy - perfect for a EDM nerd like me. Zero’s midrange is tuned for naturalness over clarity. It’s articulated and nuanced but has a pleasing warm undertone. As a result, instrument and vocal notes have a neutral note timbre that’s organic and transparent. There’s ample clarity in the midrange but the focus is on musicality and tone. Despite that, however, this midrange performs well in a technical sense too, with good instrument separation and spacing. I have zero issues driving this set. Even from an iPad 2018 I hear decent dynamics. The Zooaux Dongle Dac paired well with Xhbb which tells me similar small dongles will work perfectly fine. I also really enjoyed this set attached to the Fiio Utws5. What a nice pairing for a Bluetooth tws type option. The AK dac within seems to reach a nice synergy with this budget gem. More Power

Going through the traditional technical review is not gonna do justice to khan, so sharing my general thoughts... As my second pair of V-shaped IEMs next to my TRN ST1, the QKZ x HBB impressed me with its sound separation and imaging. Analogue and just enough. Nice splashes out to the middle outskirts show staging and correct separation found. Yet I can’t help but want to talk about such note weight and tonality to be the ultimate gift besides the bass going on here. It’s just that the more and more you listen you start to become enamored to the style of treble offered and somehow the Kahn starts to persuade you with the fact that its rendition of treble is correct and everyone else has it totally wrong? Slight fall-off into the edges of the stage and big splashes go ahead and do no wrong. I mean how many IEMs do we hear where they are teetering on sibilance? How many IEMs are there where the treble is the issue at hand……….? And I don’t mean just all the time, but how many IEMs are there where they play five songs correct then get too hot on the sixth song? Yep, none of that being the case here. And…….after correct burn-in there seems to be just the right amount of sonic separation and relief into the stage of all elements involved. And once again it’s the tonality that is critical, they fact that they somehow have got the tone right in the end? I was surprised to see these twenty-dollar IEMs have such a stylish design. The glossy resin faceplate made from aluminum and gold logo stands out. The silver outlining also makes the aesthetic pop. You also get a sharp, ergonomic body that establishes an easy fit that sits comfortably in your ears. Design After testing out the QKZ x HBB, I found out that its warm sound signature pairs up really well with songs that are bass-heavy in a mix. Gaming Impressions

Being a perfect consumer, and a fan of the HBB collaborations I just had to try the QKZ HBB and just see what all the hype was about. I have no hesitation in recommending the QKZ HBB it is a “do it all” gem of an IEM. You could spend hundred of dollars more for a lot less performance. Calla's high frequency range is not as extended as that of QKZ x HBB, so it is not a perfect top competitor, but it is generally superior in terms of low frequency depth and overall original sound fidelity. To me, the shells are on the medium size which fit me perfecly. Its smooth shell didn't give my ears any painful spot even after several hours of wearing themJust like that, HBB delivers the goods……..in essence a tune that delivers both bass and adequate vocals. If this exact mix of fun and excitement is your bag, that’s up to you? Surely QKZ are making a bunch of these, knowing beforehand that they will sell no-matter-what. Is it a classic? In a way it kinda is! Why? Simply being…………..I’ve heard a bunch of IEMs before yet none exactly like what the Kahn is doing. Does that make it a necessity? Depending on your collection and what your trying to obtain, it actually may be necessary to acquire the QKZ x HBB Kahn, especially for its price! Just go into this venture knowing that the HBB Kahn (due to its tuning) will not ever be all things to all people, it doesn’t try to be. Still I’m surprised at how all this tuning magic played out, I mean why is this not done more often? Why has this exact tune never been done exactly like this before? If it has been done before, I’ve not heard it? And that my friends makes the HBB Kahn special, that and the price. Yep, this is a lot of IEM for the money asked............and even more if you relate to what sound profile it does in the end. Comparisons *Note: My comparisons are not competitions. I use comparisons as a tool to help somewhat explain the audio gear which I am reviewing. Unless the discrepancy between the two is obvious to everyone. I've 7hz zero as a more neutral tuning iems. And Kz Edx pro which I want to replace them with, as the Kz is fatiguing and piercing for my ears. Yep, did you know IEMs can have attitude? Some IEMs seem to exist to propagate the same-old sound along with offering nothing unique or different for the listener. Some IEMs actually offer many unique traits, but those traits have nothing to do with hearing a correct and natural replay of music. Here we have our share of attitude resulting from a big boisterous sound and propelling the Kahn into noticeability…….and a relatively complete tune getting us a listenable musical stance. After spending roughly 25 days getting to know the Kahn, I feel I can disclose for you what its about!
