Description

Our stainless steel studding threads include bars of 8mm or 10mm in diameter. Most options come in 1 m length. is the most used standard commercial grade as it has good corrosion resistance and good machinability. Stainless Steels are typically divided into five families (austenitic, martensitic, ferritic, precipitation hardening and duplex). Within these families over 250 different grades of stainless steel exist. The characteristics of a stainless pipe are determined by its relative family, grade and chemical composition. Where the chemical composition can be manipulated in such a way that desirable characteristics are reinforced depending on applicability. Factors that can be altered this way include mechanical, physical, thermal and anti-corrosive qualities.

The tube is produced by drawing through a hardened steel or tungsten carbide die, at room temperature. The purpose of cold drawing is to reduce the OD or wall or both, to produce a smooth surface finish and to break up the weld structure, which results in recrystallisation when annealed. Although harder to machine than grade 304, the increased corrosion resistance of grade 316 makes it ideal for tough environments, such as marine, coastal and heavily industrialised areas. Wide choice of dimensions and free cutting Grade 304 and 316 stainless steel have a variety of properties making them ideally suited to a wide range of applications. Grade 304 is the most common stainless steel, offering great weldability, good forming properties and corrosion resistance. Our grade 304 tube is available in either bright or satin polished finishes. The manufacturing process of seamless tubes has been subject to change throughout history. Previously, seamless pipes were manufactured by drilling a hole through a solid steel rod. The rod was then drawn for elongation leaving an uneven sometimes off-centre tube. Hence, nowadays seamless tube is manufactured using a bullet shaped piercer which is gradually pushed through the centre of a heated billet while continuously rolled. This method produces a more even, reliable end product. Metal Supplies™ supply metal tube products to locations throughout the UK and Europe. We are a leading provider of metal and metal services to both commercial and domestic customers, including a comprehensive range of stainless steel products.Generally in 6.000 Metre lengths and commonly in Grades T 304, T 310, T 316 &Grade T 321; All in a wide variety of finishes 1/8″ OD x 20Swg Stainless Tube

Swagelok pre-insulated traced tubing bundles provide reliable process temperature maintenance in a variety of analytical and process instrumentation applications, including impulse lines, sample lines, and process lines and provide an economical choice compared to field tracing and insulating. The parallel configuration—process and tracer lines are parallel inside the bundle—allows all tubes to bend together in as little as an 8 in. (20.3 cm) radius in tubing sizes up to 3/4 in. or 12 mm, so the bundle is easier to route and connect in the field than cabled bundles. Specifications Materials Due to their versatile nature stainless tubes are widely applicable ranging from manufacturing to household purposes. Perhaps the most common application are stainless tubes as conduit pipes. Swagelok supplies or sources, based on specific material properties, the following wide range of tubing options to meet a variety of application needs as a full solution provider: Stainless Steel TubingThe typical silvery shimmer of stainless steel is highly regarded in architectural applications. It’s aesthetic appeal is cause for its frequent application in interior and exterior design. These fittings are advantageous if you’re familiar with using compression fittings. Because they’re typically used in low-pressure systems and tend not to require a user to do any soldering/welding, they’re suitable for domestic use.

This tube is produced by the same process as AW tube but is annealed to relieve stresses and improve ductility. Bright annealing is carried out in a controlled-atmosphere furnace, so that no oxide or scale is formed on the surface. The choice between seamless and welded stainless tube is dependent on the particular application and purpose of the end product. Each manufacturing method provides tubing with different beneficial characteristics. Seamless tubes tend to be more light weight with thinner walls, while welded tubes are heavier, more rigid and therefore typically straighter. Which industries utilise stainless steel tubes in their manufacture? has much better corrosion resistance and is the grade recommended for marine environments or coastal applications. IPT series tubing is 316 stainless steel with working pressures up to 20 000 psig (1378 bar) for use with medium-pressure fittings, as well as high-pressure tubing rated up to 60 000 psig (4134 bar) for use in high-pressure applications. Medium-Pressure Tubing—FK Series Pre-coned tube lengths of hardened or annealed tubing are available from 2 to 120 in. (5 to 305 cm) in length. Tube lengths are precisely coned with a high-quality finish. Specifications Material

Ultrahigh-Purity (UHP) and High-Purity Stainless Steel Tubing

Stainless steel is generally corrosion resistant. Stainless tubes are therefore very durable with a long lifecycle and particularly low in maintenance. This longevity means stainless tubes are a very cost effective material. This tubing is produced direct off the continuous tube welding mill, using cold rolled stainless steel strip made to ASTM standards, with tube produced to commercial limits of straightness in standard or specific customer lengths. AW tube has a higher yield point than annealed tube and is generally used for decorative applications or in mildly corrosive conditions. It is not suitable for applications requiring significant flaring, expanding or bending.

Whatever your needs, The Metal Store can provide the perfect stainless steel tube or pipe. We offer 3 and 6 metre lengths, with diameters from as small as 8mm up to 16mm in grade 316, and ¾” to 2” in grade 304. Finishes or appearance range from unpolished to highly polished. Unpolished has a 2B mill finish, standard polished is a finely grit polished finish and there is a finer buffed finish giving close to mirror appearance. Finishes are selected to suit application and aesthetic appeal. This tube at the point of manufacture goes through a process where the internal weld bead is rolled. The result is an improved internal finish along the weld, reducing the chance of a crevice where liquid or food product may be trapped. This assists with ‘clean in place’ (CIP) environment food and beverage process lines or other applications such as the pharmaceutical industry. Annealing both increases the corrosion resistance and softens the tube which allows severe manipulation such as bending, expanding and forming. This tubing is ultrahigh-purity, coaxial, chemically cleaned and passivated, and thermocouple-cleaned 316L stainless steel available in size: 1/8 to 2 in and 6 to 18 mm. The tube ends are prepared for orbital welding. 304/304L Welded Tubing Specifications Materials Generally stainless tubes are corrosion and thus weather resistant, making them ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications. Resistance is built when 10.5% of chromium inherent to all stainless steels reacts with the surrounding atmosphere forming a thin protective layer on the tubes surface. If you are welding or adapting a system, you may want to opt for brass fittings instead. Are stainless steel compression fittings ok for domestic use?
