Rare Birds of Hampshireadds another impressive and well-researched volume to the county’s ornithological literature. This zone runs from South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas all the way to the east coast. Purple Finches only migrate through the western Dakotas to move between their breeding and non-breeding ranges. The oystercatchers are large, obvious and noisy plover-like birds, with strong bills used for smashing or prying open molluscs.
