There is a focus on the tangible aspects of fasting and being more diligent in your prayers, for it’s a time to try and live by the values of your faith under trying conditions, being the best version of yourself (taking time for prayer and meditation, actively being kind to others, not getting angry) all while not having access to food and water. As individuals, we all find different aspects of the month of Ramadan challenging but at the end of the day, when you break your fast with family and friends you have a sense of solidarity and support that makes this month really special. It’s also a great reminder to be grateful for what you have and appreciate the plight of others less fortunate than you – particularly when we live in a society that is all about the next achievement to strive for. It’s a month of training us to become good people, being kind, and getting close to God. It’s trying to pray more, trying to remember Him more – food is a small part.” Food blogger Anisa Karolia says she understands the meaning of Ramadan much better now she’s an adult. Now in her first book, The Ramadan Cookbook, Anisa shares 80 delicious, easy-to-make recipes perfect for the holy month of Ramadan. Here she shares three of her favourites. In this cookbook, you'll find all the recipes you need to make your Ramadan meals family-friendly, fuss-free and filling. If you have already submitted another request to index a book or magazine yourself, please do not make any additional requests until you have indexed and submitted that book or magazine. What I thought: This is a great recipe to try out if you’re bored of making the same noodle dish again and again. I was a bit doubtful about how much chilli and garlic sauce was advised in the recipe, but honestly, it was so yummy and very spicy! This was such an easy recipe too, perfect to prepare for an iftar when you’re tired and hungry. She also considers how she prepares the food, and has been increasingly using the air fryer, to keep meals lighter and healthier.

Anisa Karolia is one of the UK’s most popular Muslim food bloggers, sharing all of her favourite authentic recipes since 2015. She has a community of over 240,000 followers worldwide and was a British Muslim Award winner in 2020.Called The Ramadan Cookbook, it’s full of recipes for Suhoor – the small meal eaten just before sunrise – Iftar, and beyond. These adverts enable local businesses to get in front of their target audience – the local community. This Ramadan book is a lifeline for anyone who is fasting over this spiritual time and needs inspiration and trusted recipes. I know I will be reaching for this book each year.
