Description

Besides the standard image adjustment tools (brightness, contrast, color temperature, aspect ratio, input source, etc.), you also get access to some advanced settings, such as sharpness, four gamma presets, 6-axis hue/saturation and color temperature fine-tuning in increments of 500K. Aside from its amazing true colors, the IPS is also recognized for its high viewing angles, and a decent brightness ratio is an excellent complement to this characteristic. It’s worth noting that this monitor is distinguished from others of the same category by two actual factors. 1 – its three-color design: if it weren’t for this detail, we’d be talking about how it reminds us of other LG monitors like the: LG 27UP850-W, and we’d be once again complaining about how repetitive the design is. Moving on, the LG 27UP600 has a peak brightness of 400-nits, which is in line with the older models. Even in particularly bright rooms, you won’t have any problems with glare as the screen’s high brightness can mitigate it. Luminance uniformity of the panel was not very good, with the upper centre ( -11% ), lower left ( -12% ) and right ( -14% ) regions of the screen showing the most deviance from our centrally calibrated point. The most extreme case is in the lower right corner (-14%). It means this monitor is OK for normal use, but it may not be adequately suitable for professional use.

With 1.07B of supported colors and DCI-P3 95 percent (CIE1976), the LG 27UP600 thankfully satisfies professional criteria, providing you with a wide range of colors. On the other hand, we should add that this monitor has a high resolution, which, for certain users, is sufficient to compensate for the low refresh rate. The accurate default gamma of 2.2 was corrected, leaving 0% deviance after calibration, while the white point was also now corrected to 6521k which was great news. Colour accuracy of the resulting profile was excellent, with dE average of 0.15 and maximum of 1.11. DisplayCAL would consider colour fidelity to be very good overall.

The low refresh rate is no longer common for any sort of screen, just as the IPS panel is no longer a specific characteristic for professional monitors. The LG 27UP600-W is compatible with FreeSync and G-Sync works if you force it via Nvidia Control Panel. This duality is essential since GPUs aren’t easy to find at good prices and 4K gaming is very prone to FPS drops and stuttering. Input lag sits at 9ms at 60Hz so the screen is still responsive without any perceivable delay. Thoughts on the LG 27UP600-W The most widely used panels are those with 6, 8, and 10 bits for each of the RGB components of the pixel. They provide 18-, 24-, and 30-bit color, respectively. I used the X-rite i1 Display Pro combined with the DisplayCAL software to achieve results and reports. Also, the calibration settings are as follows:

All that is to say if you’re considering this monitor, plan on buying an alternative mount. It uses the VESA 100mm x 100mm standard, so it won’t be hard to find a good one that fits. I use a cheapish Vivo articulating mount, and it works great if you don’t move your monitor around a lot but occasionally need to swing it out of the way. Conclusion It’s worth noting that they’re not utilizing the traditional D-sub connection for this model. Believe it or not, some people still use this cable, so if you’re one of them, be sure you don’t use this connector for video before purchasing this model. The static contrast shows the ratio between the brightest and the darkest color, which the display can reproduce simultaneously, for example, within one and the same frame/scene. In the month I’ve spent with this monitor so far, it’s been crisp, with great color accuracy that makes it perfect for working with RAW images in Photoshop, though you may need to do a little work to get it there. Pre-calibration, it was a touch cooler in tone compared to my M2 MacBook Air, but afterward, it was more than close enough for blues. It’s also a bit dimmer — the MacBook Air can reach 500 nits brightness, whereas the LG only reaches up to 400 nits. That’s plenty for a decently bright room, but if you have a giant window behind you, it’ll probably look a little subdued.

Black Stabiliser

Even if the whole problem is about costs, this can’t really be used as an argument at this moment, because at least 75hz isn’t that expensive to implement right now. Still, this isn’t a fair comparison, and they’re excellent, at least better than average for current LG monitors, so this is unquestionably a positive for the screen. The pixel pitch shows the distance from the centers of two neighboring pixels. In displays, which have a native resolution (the TFT ones, for example), the pixel pitch depends on the resolution and the size of the screen. Unlike LG’s previous 27″ 4K 60Hz models, such as the LG 27UL600 and 27UK600, the LG 27UP600 uses an IPS panel by BOE, which brings it a big upgrade in DCI-P3 color gamut coverage.

Because it belongs to the barely premium displays category, we can see that its materials are not of the same high grade as those used in the, say, LG 27UN880-B. Approximate diagonal size of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the diagonal is calculated from the width and height of the screen. As previously said, this monitor comes with a reasonable calibration out of the box, but if you truly want the lowest delta number, you need take the time to calibrate it yourself. Information about the brightness of the screen. It is measured in candela per square metre (cd/m²).So, when you buy this one, keep in mind that it has little to no gaming-friendly features, so you’ll need a second monitor for competitive or/and smooth gaming. The LG 27UP600-W renders 100% sRGB and around 91% DCI-P3, making it more vibrant than most budget 4K monitors. Its default accuracy isn’t perfect with a deltaE average of 2.34, but it’s already decent enough for daily use. Most users won’t need to calibrate it apart from tweaking a few basic settings since it already looks balanced out of the box.
