Aways ran 80-1 on 747 and never a problem with the trials bikes and imo it is the best 2T oil you can use.

Now I am of a certain age I have recently completed an NHS postal test for thispossible problem which I believe is offered to all older people in the UKand thankfully this was negative. The reason for that is that castor oil is hydroscopic in nature, if its left in a road bikes engine or fuel tank. I'm currently running Castrol TTS but was told that a teaspoonful of Castrol R in the mix will give you the classic 2 stroke smell, without the associated running problems. It seems to be a pretty emotive subject and summat that I've followed with interest on other bike and two stroke forums. So, obviously I've got my own tried and tested version of Castrol R use and I love some polemics and a bit of controversy. Having used it extensively in racing engines there is no doubt in my mind that it one of the best lubricants for clinging on to components and engine hot spots, we always reckoned that if we blew an engine that a lot more bits would be salvageable if we were running on 'R'.

He warned, however, never to mix Castrol R40 with mineral or synthetic oils or to leave the oil for long periods of time if the engine is not being used. as a youth loved the smell of Castrol 'R' and if to be lucky enough to get a whiff of it now suddenly find myself whisked off into a dream and find myself start remembering very happy memories as a kid watching my father doing MX. Castrol has a long and proud history developing motorcycle lubricants and has worked with bike manufacturers and racing teams to push the limits of oil technology. And really interesting to hear your replies, so I’ll try to answer as many (or perhaps the few) replies to this topic.

On the ground, progress was scarcely less momentous as the horseless carriage progressed from being a curiosity and plaything into an increasingly practical mechanism, as well as another vehicle of human endeavour and national rivalry. But where the oil layer is thin — on cylinder walls and cam lobes, for instance — it ensures a higher level of scuff resistance. Just curious on feedback, I'm thinking its hard to imagine not using it the difference is very noticeable and very significant. e. mixed with the petrol, just to give it the distinctive aroma, but he uses mineral based oil in the oil tank. The old girl did seem to smoke a bit more than usual at first so perhaps the oil was starting to settle at the bottom of the tank.
