Ultimately, Star Wars: Legion is more than just a game—it’s an invitation to create an army that only you could have built, gathering troopers, vehicles, and iconic characters from the Star Wars saga and pitting them against your opponent’s army in battle. The first step in building your army is to select your side and choose the units that will make up your army. Even within the Core Set, you already have impactful choices to make with units of Rebel Troopers and Stormtroopers, along with 74-Z Speeder Bikes, an AT-RT, Darth Vader, and Luke Skywalker. You may be planning to play out a small-scale skirmish between just a few units or a massive battle, but either way, the units that you choose are the foundation of your army.
Although the Jedi may be the highest-ranking members of the Grand Army of the Republic, it is the clones that most often carry out battle plans and complete the Republic’s objectives. With the ranks of Jedi perilously thin, Clone Commanders often have to step up and lead from the trenches. Revered by his fellow Jedi and the clones who serve under his command alike, Skywalker employs all manner of unorthodox tactics as he fights to rid the galaxy of the Separatist menace. Now, he is ready to take command of your Star Wars™: Legion armies with the Anakin Skywalker Commander Expansion! The Grand Army of the Republic is a massive organization consisting of countless troops, vehicles, and all the equipment needed to support them in the field. More than just soldiers, countless clone specialists hold it all together, keeping it prepared to overcome whatever obstacles are thrown in its path. As skilled as he is, Kenobi may have met his match in General Grievous. Proudly wielding the trophy lightsabres he has collected from the Jedi he has defeated in battle, Grievous is a particularly dangerous opponent, his agility making him equally adept at avoiding damage as he is at doling it out. Within this Core Set, you’ll find one beautifully detailed General Grievous miniature that can be assembled in three different ways: with two of his trophy lightsabers and a cloak; carrying a single lightsabre and a DT-57 “Annihilator” blaster pistol while shrouded in his cloak; or with all four trophy lightsabres at the ready.
In addition to the miniature, you’ll find all of Anakin Skywalker’s abilities laid out on a unit card alongside his three signature command cards that allow him to leave his own mark on a battle. Powerful as he may be, Skywalker is more susceptible than most to the temptations of the dark side, and this weakness is represented by a new Flaw card that his opponents can exploit. Finally, rounding out this expansion are six upgrade cards ensuring Anakin Skywalker has the training and Force abilities to face any test. A BARC Speeder miniature gives your Clone Troopers some much-needed speed as they look to out-maneuver the Separatist's battle droids and can be assembled with or without its sidecar. Those who include the sidecar can further customise their speeder with a twin laser gunner, an RPS-6 gunner, or an ion gunner. Legion in terms of the cost in time, effort and price is very different from what you previously know and love. The figures do require assembly, only gluing and positioning, but that does require some skill and patience—they're not pre-assembled, pre-painted, ready to go. It's very much a wargame in the hobby sense, and if this is your first wargame, you're going to have to spend some time putting the figures together and painting them if you want them to look great…” War has engulfed the galaxy. Phase II clone trooper armor reflected one of the Republic's greatest technological successes and included advanced tactical gear that further augmented the clone troopers' individual strengths. Additionally, the clones wearing this armor were themselves better trained and more experienced than those first deployed at the start of the war. In addition to introducing the Galactic Republic and Separatist Alliance to the game as new factions, this Core Set contains all the cards, tools and tokens you need to begin staging your own Star Wars battles right away, making this the perfect starting point for building your Star Wars: Legion collection. Importantly, the Clone Wars Core Set is not a new edition of the game, and you don't need the original Core Set to start playing. Every clone is trained to fight and give their life for the Republic. But not all clones have the training to keep the Grand Army of the Republic running like a well-oiled machine. Two squads of B1 Battle Droids are ready to crush any resistance with sheer weight of numbers.
