The plot is a classic, which is why it has to be done particularly well and ideally with a creative twist to set it apart from the rest - sadly, this version just didn't have that. Wow, I don't know if it was intentional or not but Jacob was one of the most stupid, nasty, despicable, immature main character I've ever read. His parents and their actions were also often questionable. I disliked they way they found excuses for Jacob's behaviour. Was I supposed to feel sympathy for the "poor boy" and his parents?
