of the world's most stunning city maps show exactly where your favourite characters lived, loved, worked and played. Each map began as a rough draft by Matt which included detailed instructions for locations of fictional islands, coastlines and other geographical features. From Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot to the superhero land of Wakanda, from Lilliput of Gulliver’s Travels to Springfield in The Simpsons, this is a wondrous atlas of imagined places around the world. With a deep love of trivia, he’s written and hosted hundreds of quizzes, including events for the Museum of London and Manchester Science Museum, among many others. The 14 cities covered are Berlin, Chicago, London, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York City, Paris, Rio, San Francisco, Sydney, Tokyo, Venice and Washington DC.

Here can be seen Antillia, a phantom island reputed to exist in the 15th century and which was depicted on several maps at the time.

Ana de Lima’s whimsical, softly colored illustrations are filled with surprising details that reward close examination, while Mia Cassany’s soothing narrator is a nameless fellow traveler. Feauturing 14 of the world’s greatest cities, the maps show exactly where your favourite characters lived, loved, worked and played, and where iconic scenes took place. The maps feature fictional buildings, towns, cities and countries plus mountains and rivers, oceans and seas.

We use Google Analytics to see what pages are most visited, and where in the world visitors are visiting from. From Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot to superhero Wakanda, from Lilliput of Gulliver's Travels to Springfield in The Simpsons, a wondrous atlas of imagined places around the world. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. The maps also pinpoint dozens of famous fictional organisations and businesses — Central Perk, Ghostbusters HQ, Torchwood, Cyberdyne Sytems, Sterling Cooper, Tyrell Corporation, to name just a few of the more famous examples. It's the sequel to 2021's award-winning Atlas of Imagined Places, and started out as a Londonist project. Characters' homes, bars, clubs, metro stations and skycrapers that you've seen or read about are all plotted in in beautiful vintage-style city maps. I was commissioned to create a series of eighteen detailed maps in an antique style to plot the locations of all these fictional places, each focussing on a different part of the world in the manner of an atlas. Nevertheless, this fascinating book is essential for any map enthusiast or devotee of popular culture. I was impressed that the authors found Hogwart’s School of Witchcraft and Wizardry — it’s reputed to be “unplottable” — along with the nearby town of Hogsmead, frequented by Harry Potter and his friends, tucked away in eastern Scotland’s Cairngorms Mountains. Matt Brown is author of 11 books for Batsford, using his trademark humour and playfulness as tools to explore the world. Often, it's obvious from the source material, but sometimes a bit of detective-work is needed to pinpoint a fictional home, business or event. This was one of the more challenging maps to design, in that there are no precedents for maps of both regions together on the same projection (besides maps of the whole world or the continent of Asia).A new book, co-authored by Londonist's editor-at-large Matt Brown, maps thousands of locations from movies, TV, novels, video games and other fictional works. Detail from the map of Eastern Europe, including a large section of European Russia and the Baltics. The Central America map contains hundreds of places, from Pirates of the Caribbean to Jurassic Park, with cameos from James Bond, Captain Pugwash, Robinson Crusoe and From Dawn to Dusk. These delightful Where’s Waldo-esque maps are the creation of freelance artist and map designer, Mike Hall, whose oeuvre includes maps and diagrams of real-life botanic gardens, university campuses and hotel resorts, railways, major cities and even entire countries. The authors spent months compiling hundreds of fictional and imaginary places from film, television, literature, myths, comics, video games and much more, all of which were carefully plotted in a series of highly detailed, antique-style maps by Mike.

These were then developed by me into more detailed, stylised maps, which were then sent back to Matt who placed all of the text labels and pins. And then there's East Cheam, which will be immediately obvious to older, British readers (an invention of Tony Hancock). So awash in magical schools is this tiny portion of the world that at least a few other mythical educational institutions also reported in the area seem to “have disapparated from the map through a lack of space. Locations from film, tv, literature, myths, comics and video games are plotted in a series of beautiful vintage-looking maps. The unusual distorted projection of this map was created by adapting a segment of an azimuthal map centred on the North Pole; this allowed me to fit in the entirety of Canada, Greenland and the Arctic comfortably across the full width of the double page spread. By looking at the maps, you'll find that the revolution at Animal Farm happened next to Winnie the Pooh's home.
