With the army theme nailed down, high-tech Mobile Suits need high-tech bases. I could have bought any of the many different resin options, but it seemed like a fun project to make them myself. There is no core gang box for Venators, since literally any model can fit into a Venator gang one way or another. Gang Expansion While Cawdor gangs certainly aren’t the best armed or armoured among the gangs, they are the most numerous gangs, overwhelming their opponent with hordes of believers burning with religious fervour. House Cawdor is also home to those literally burning, in the shape of their Redemptionist Gangs who walk the streets of Necromunda, flamers in hand, purging the faithless in holy fire. You kinda have to play around with this a lot until you like it, which is SUPER subjective, but try to think about shapes that extend off the side – it’s gonna look weird if the design is always centered. I found that 2-3 layers of Cool Shapes was about enough. If you left gaps down to the bare plastic of the base, buddy that also counts as a layer. The Van Saar gang doesn’t have any faction-specific Vehicles yet, but as one of the main House gangs, they’re bound to get a Vehicle release at some point during the Aranthian Succession storyline. These three fighters are available from Forge World. Their rules can be found in the House of Blades book. Doctor Arachnos Rogue Doc This Hanger-On is available from Forge World. His rules are available in the box he comes in. Rogue Doc and Gang Look-Out The Outcasts gang is the second, newest, “sandbox” gang in the game, but also has a dedicated box it can use, and with the great importance it has in the current storyline, it might be the most relevant choice today for a gang of your own making. Add rivets. Drill a shitload of holes, mostly on corners or along edges, but maybe you want to put lines of them in random spots. The rivet holes are what really sell this idea. I suspect this would have gone better with a hole punch and plasticard, if you’re into that.The Slave Ogryn Gang doesn’t have any upgrade sets, but you can combine it with other 40K Ogryn kits to some degree, and the Slave Ogryn sprues themselves are full of options. Additional Releases There has been one Forge World resin upgrade set relased for the Corpse Grinder Cults, featuring heavy flamers and harpoon launchers. Shade the recesses (creases) of skin with Gulliman Flesh (medium skin tone) or Fyreslayer Flesh (darker skin tone). These two Hangers-On are available from Forge World. Their rules can be found in the Book of Judgment book. House Greim Military Attaché This Bounty Hunter is available from Forge World. His rules can be found in Gangs of the Underhive. Necromunda Hired GunsNext, I grab a floor tile that I’ve cut and glue it to the plain styrene side. Then I flip it over to trim the detail to match the curve of the base. If you don’t have access to a Cricut, you could put a piece of paper over the GW tile and do a pencil rubbing on that to get a template to recreate that design in styrene. Hole punch or pin vise, for making rivet holes. I’m usually a big fan of using a power drill, but in this case I worried about having enough control not to just bore straight through the base. Business cards also work. I used some of my own, since I’m kept in a room at the office and never need to hand them out to people. It helped that mine have rounded corners, which is a Cool Shape.
