As I’ve said many times, I wouldn’t compare heart rate accuracy to something 80% accurate (or even 90% accurate), so doing it here isn’t something that makes much sense to me either. If tiny companies like COROS and Polar (in comparison to Samsung), or also-big companies like Apple, Google, Huawei, and Garmin, can have good to exceptional accuracy, then certainly Samsung can at least have passing performance in these categories. All the other units did just fine (I switched the Apple Watch Series 8 for Apple Watch Ultra here – albeit the Ultra did briefly miss one recovery interval).

Watch6 Classic is made from strong, stainless steel for a premium, classic design with the largest screen on a Samsung Galaxy watch yet, so it's easier to see everything at a glance. Note that for all of these, I left all the screen brightness details at defaults, but did use always-on display the entire time. I have drawers full of classic analog, windup watches, and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic would look at home next to any of them. The Classic also gets the fun rotating mechanical bezel that I love, but the basic Watch6 uses a touch bezel, which Samsung used on last year's models. Users should not interpret or take clinical action based on the predictions made without consultation of a qualified healthcare professional. If you use another Android phone like a Google Pixel, you won't be able to use the ECG or get irregular heart rate alerts. Disabling the always-on display and enabling Adaptive Brightness—two battery-saving measures—increased the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic's battery life to more than 38 hours on a charge, allowing for two full nights of sleep tracking. I could have perhaps understood if Samsung’s cheaper non-Classic units didn’t have it and Classic did. which was dead center in the green zone (my body fat was in the lower end of the green zone, yay me).

I'll start with the good news: Thanks to the increase in screen real estate, icons appear larger on the display and the watches now offer six text font size options instead of four. Just keep in mind that this trio of features is restricted to people who pair the watch with a Samsung phone. The typical capacity is the estimated average capacity considering the deviation in battery capacity among the battery samples tested under the IEC 61960-3 standard. Neither model earns our Editors' Choice due to this generation's unimpressive battery life, but if you're in the market for an Android-compatible smartwatch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series is hard to beat.

We see the pattern repeat itself as I begin the second climb, again taking about 10 minutes to finally lock. Be sure to put your watch on sleep mode to change the PPG sensor's green LED to invisible infrared LED, dim the display brightness and mute notifications. It massively cut a number of corners by a football field’s worth, and then blazed through buildings when I (obviously) went around them. With the always-on display and Adaptive Brightness enabled, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic offered about 24 hours of battery life on a charge in testing. Within the watch you can create a basic interval workout, including cool-down, but nothing more complex.

The Classic-edition white watch face with the white band just looks spectacular in person, and even the bubbly-looking watch face on the non-Classic really works well too. Of course, display settings affect battery life and keeping the brightness at 2,000 nits will drain the power faster than dropping it to 1,000 nits, which I find is sufficient most of the time. As someone who tests a new phone once every few weeks, I have been asking for a feature like this for years, and I am so happy to see it here. The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, though, goes in a different direction, adopting the retro look of a beefy analog windup. As for the little sibling, the non-Classic, well…it’s exactly what the Samsung Watch4 and Watch5 were, thus no differences there.

For the most part, each ‘notch’ on the rotating bezel will iterate one tile/choice forward/back, though every once in a while it’ll skip a selection or miss one.If you would like a profile picture, simply register at Gravatar, which works here on DCR and across the web. Throughout the night, I would wake up, feeling the uncomfortable pressure on my wrist, usually because my hand was under my pillow and my head was pressing down on the pillow and the watch underneath.
