According to some accounts the upper flanks of the valley on the Eastern side also show traces of ancient hillside fortifications, although I must admit I could not see them! For everyone who’s obsessed with History or if you’re just randomly knowledgeable about it, you’ll appreciate reading a Fantasy book that involved elements of that subject area.

It didn't help that I didn't really like any of the characters and the romance felt out of sorts because of the whole going back and forth between timelines. the sex scenes in this felt drawn out, the words used completely took me out of the scene, and it just felt…embarrassing to read. The way the storyline is set up was perfect, keeping me hooked while wondering what could possible happening next.

and if the book hadn’t been so overwritten (and so adamant on over-explaining every single minute detail and glossing over bigger, thematic pieces) i think i would have been swept away in the romance. but this book could have been cut in half—even with the longevity of timespan—and still have been ~500 pages. But be warned, this book WILL give you mental whiplash as it is very complex with twists and turns abound.
