Even though afterwards, he feels remorse because of his actions, but he's still glad he made it out alive, of course. I wouldn't be surprised if Urasawa was influenced by the artwork of Katsuhiro Otomo, as he shares his eye for detail and distinct characteristics of his characters. I know that Nina was a threat to Johan, but I thought his people knew that she was valuable to him and planned on disposing of her after they met or something.
