I don't know if James Patterson hung up his golf pants at the Palm Beach Country Club or if he finally decided he's had too much sun/surf/pina colada's or what, but apparently he locked himself in a cave and wrote a dang good book. Hope to Die picks up where Cross My Heart ended (I only got the title tie-in now), with Alex Cross falling apart because his family has been kidnapped. Gary Soneji, a dying prison escapee, is looking for revenge on Cross, while another insane killer is pursued by Thomas Augustine Pierce-a brilliant and relentless detective who may even be better than Cross. The shocking double homicide is blazed across the internet, TV, newspapers—and across Alex Cross's mind.

Among his creations are some of the world's most popular series including Alex Cross, the Women's Murder Club, Michael Bennett and the Private novels. I missed the presence of his family in this book, as they were always part of the charm of the Alex Cross novels, but this one did not disappoint. If you’ve been reading and enjoying the Alex Cross series, then Cross My Heart and Hope to Die should appeal as they very much offer more of the same quality and crime thriller suspense. This book however was more like the old James Patterson with thrills spills, good characters told in the usual style of short punchy chapters. Patterson and publishers: The action and interplay among the characters is wonderful, yet I can no longer see past the concept. Patterson employs his trademark short chapters and Cross does a lot of travelling around the country in this one, even surviving a car crash and “Duel”-type mountainside descent. It follows on directly from the cliff-hanger that ended Cross My Heart, so cannot really be read without reading that book first. Sampson is certain his friend has been framed, and Alex's investigation turns up evidence overlooked-or concealed-by the military authorities.

Cross's family - his loving wife Bree, the wise and lively Nana Mama, and his precious children--have been ripped away. Detective Alex Cross is being stalked by a psychotic genius, forced to play the deadliest game of his career. They were some major holes in this one, but it was a great follow on to Cross My Heart, and I was well convinced that someone may be back on the market for a bit. Detective Alex Cross is a family man at heart: nothing matters more to him than his children, his grandmother, and his wife Bree. But function he must if he has even the slightest chance of catching the diabolical killer and find his precious Nana Mama and the rest of his children alive. The victim: a beautiful little girl, savagely beaten and deposited in front of the elementary school Cross's son attends. He's a tough guy from a tough part of town who wears Harris Tweed jackets and likes to relax by banging out Gershwin tunes on his baby grand piano. Kay Willingham led a life as glamorous as it was public—she was a gorgeous Georgetown socialite, philanthropist, and the ex-wife of the vice president.

In this one I felt the author managed to capture that earlier AC essence so I am glad I read this one. com, which helps parents, grandparents, teachers, and librarians find the very best children’s books for their kids.Racing down the hairpin turns of the Riviera in the most unforgettable finale James Patterson has ever written, he confronts the truth of the Wolf's identity, a revelation that even Cross himself may be unable to survive. Alex's investigations are going nowhere, and he's too focused on the cases to notice that someone has been watching him-and will stop at nothing until he's dead. In this heart-stopping thriller, Detective Alex Cross and his beloved fiancé find themselves tangled in a complex murder investigation, threatening not only public safety, but their chance at happiness together.
