I know I've made my parents really proud, and we've all enjoyed my success, but they've also had their fair share of the bad bits fame can bring. Just like his music, there really is something for everyone here: we follow him through the Take That reunion (discovering also the reasons for the split in the first place), the row with Robbie, the creation of their stunning sets and tours, and it's a joy to watch a calmer, happier man emerge from the shadows of what he believed he used to be - a chain-smoking obsessive control freak. When we realised the next afternoon that he wasn't coming back I felt jealous I wasn't the one who'd stood up and said, 'I'm a pop star, I'm going to behave like one for a bit. The way he talks about the Take That boys is heartwarming and he gives a real insight into some of the biggest pop tours in British history, along with the juggernaut that is The X Factor.

The reality was only six lads turned up to the 'nationwide audition' at La Cage nightclub in Manchester. I loved that Gary himself read his own book it added to it and makes the reader feel like he’s talking to you.In zwei Tagen durchgesuchtet, dieses Buch, auch um der Frage nachzugehen, warum Mister Barlow nach "My take" noch ein Buch geschrieben hat. They married in January 1967, and our Ian came pretty swiftly after, then me, the greedy-for-attention kid.

He took an orange, as I remember it, a melon, according to him, got in his car with the blacked-out windows and was driven off.

From the working men's club where it all began through to the sold out stadium tours, this is the story of Gary's life told through music.

One of the most interesting nights of my life begins in a hotel in Kensington in 2005, where Mark, Howard and I are three nobodies. He put together Take That in 1990 and created the blueprint for boybands: after us the UK was awash with five lads, all slightly different, doing vocal harmonies, bopping about in an eye-pleasing formation wearing carefully co-ordinated outfits. I had no idea what to expect upon opening this; I bought it really, because he was my best friends heartthrob and I wanted to know what it was she might have seen in him.Robert Williams was experienced too, he'd been in all these musicals, but so young he had to have his mum there. I had this image (as you do when you don't know someone) that GB was a bit of a loner, pushover and all-round nice guy.

Filled with a mixture of brand new photography from Gary's current one-man show and incredibly personal unseen photos and notebooks, A Different Stage is a beautiful book about the man we've spent our lives listening to. Although we get snippets of deeply harrowing parts of Gary’s life from recent years, such as his obsession with food, his depression following the band’s initial breakdown and the deeply harrowing time in 2012 when he lost his baby Poppy to stillbirth, sometimes I still felt he was holding back. Aside from his achievements with Take That, he has also co-written and produced music for other renowned artists including Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Elton John and Robbie Williams.

Dad worked, sometimes two jobs, but at the weekends he was always there when I was playing in the clubs.
