I’ve always kept floss as, even if I didn’t brush enough, I’ve always hated bits of food stuck between my teeth of on my gums so I’ve always tried to keep my teeth clean in other ways – just not brushing enough. The Oral B Smart 6 6000 comes with a premium travel case that can charge the toothbrush and a smartphone at the same time. If you want to be able to charge the brush in the case, look at the Genius X which has the ultimate in smart travel cases. It takes this data and displays this on the smartphone screen, giving instant feedback to highlight and direct you to where you have missed and where you need to clean next. With the newer battery tech you can get away with charging your brush every few weeks, while a timer – usually a pause or pulse every 30 seconds – makes it easier to check that you’re brushing for the two minutes that dentists recommend.

It works with the Oral-B app on your smartphone to show you a graphic image of how well you are brushing your teeth. You don’t get the full suite of sensors of the iO9, but the iO6 still does a great job of tracking where and how you’re brushing and relaying it back to the Oral-B app. White in colour and made from a silicone rubber material, it is virtually circular with a wedge cut out of the front section to hold a smartphone in either portrait or landscape orientation.The iO Series are the only ones from Oral-B to be quieter, all other brushes produce the same noise. However, 95% of the time my brush lives at home within close range of the charging stand and there is no reason why it could not be charged more frequently. Battery life, meanwhile, is exceptional; you’ll easily get through two weeks of brushing and probably three without a recharge. That said i also want to share with your readers my personal view on toothbrush and touch on something you said before.

A point to note is if you owned one of the older models that included a smart guide, the Smart 6 does work with it. Its Lithium-Ion battery still needs charging overnight but will last for over an hour of brushing from there on in, which should cover you for a couple of weeks. The Oral B Smart 4 4000 and 5 5000 have a rear pressure sensor that flashes red when you brush too hard, while the Oral B Smart 6 6000 and 7 7000 have a Smart Ring that flashes a colour of your choice (there are 12 colours to choose from) 6.For at least one of those brushes, we’ll use plaque disclosing tablets to check that all areas of the teeth are getting a proper clean. Like any Oral B toothbrush, the 5000 Smart is also a bit noisier than Philips Sonicare electric toothbrushes. Like most mid-range and high-end Oral B electric toothbrushes, this toothbrush also comes with a ‘visible pressure sensor’ located on the rear-side of its handle. With a good oral care routine, like you are on the path to achieving, you shouldn’t need to use mouthwash at all.
