About this deal

However, Baron Harkonnen – one of the most repulsive villains in literature – has plans of his own for the Atreides household. For this edition, Pulitzer Prize-winning critic Michael Dirda has contributed a new introduction, examining both the origins of Herbert’s unlikely success and the hidden depths of his ‘grand operatic vision’. He has lent his immersive yet traditional artistry to major publishing houses, bestselling authors, and the Museum of London, and was a contributing illustrator for The Official Game of Thrones Coloring Book. Folio commissioned Hokyoung Kim for the artwork, while the late author’s wife, Wendy Benchley, provides a fascinating new introduction.

Seamus Heaney’s deeply felt interpretation, widely acknowledged as the greatest Beowulf translation of modern times, is presented in parallel with the Old English verse in this fabulous Folio edition. The fiction of Dune is deadly serious, but the nomenclature and creation of these books, films, and TV series is anything but dull. Insight Editions' award-winning art and photography titles celebrate the artistry and history of a wide range of subjects, from rock to film to nature conservation. For more sci-fi, fantasy, and horror-themed art book videos please check out our new YouTube channel. Slightly more compact, with an exquisite slipcase featuring the sand worm mural, the book itself is beautifully produced. The book also features exclusive interviews with key members of the cast and crew, including Denis Villeneuve, Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, and many more, delivering a uniquely candid account of the hugely ambitious international shoot. The book will be illustrated with a wealth of concept art and other key visuals showcasing the design process behind the creation of this bold new vision. His other novels include Sidney’s Comet (1983), Sudanna, Sudanna (1986), Man of Two Worlds (1986, co-authored with Frank Herbert), The Race for God (1990), and Ocean (2013), which he co-authored with his wife, Jan Herbert. However, four decades and a big-budget remake later, Lynch’s Dune is finally poised to find its rightful place alongside the director’s other masterpieces such as Blue Velvet and Mullholland Drive. Max Evry’s A Masterpiece in Disarray takes you back to 1984 with the deepest dive yet into the cult classic that is David Lynch’s Dune.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who loved Villeneuve’s Dune and all the art within the film. The intergalactic empire controlled by a privileged aristocracy raises all the old questions of human interaction in a strange yet weirdly familiar setting. Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive.

Showcasing Villeneuve’s visionary approach, The Art and Soul of Dune: Part Two is an essential companion to the director’s latest masterpiece. In this fascinating volume, the world's millions of Dune fans can now read - at long last - the unpublished chapters and scenes from Dune and Dune Messiah. Mary Shelley's darkly disturbing tale is illustrated by Angela Barrett and newly introduced by Richard Holmes.

My one gripe - the same one I'd say about the BR2049 one actually - is that there isn't the same level of detail in the text as you'd find in the superlative Making Of books by the late J W Rinzler. If you have been captured by the magical universe of Dune, this anthology will open your eyes to the extraordinary voices of its leaders, Brian Herbert has culled from the Dune Chronicles the maxims and aphorisms that codify Frank Herbert's complex and visionary philosophy. Herbert’s influences for his legendary creation came from far and wide, they range from his interest in Zen Buddhism and indigenous American lore, to Shakespearian drama and 60s New Age thinking.

This book, however, is a great companion to explore a lot of the little details in your own time, from other perspectives. During the shooting of Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two, Greig Fraser went beyond standard unit photography and documented the filming process using still photography on a variety of cameras. Insight Editions has partnered with Dune’s executive producer Tanya Lapointe to share an insider's look at how Villeneuve and his team successfully adapted a legendary novel long thought unfilmable.

The Art and Soul of Dune: Part Two captures the breathtaking behind-the-scenes journey behind the making of Dune: Part Two, the second film in director Denis Villeneuve’s six-time Oscar-winning film adaptation of author Frank Herbert’s science fiction classic. A hardback book, this begs to be opened fully (and not resting on my sternum in bed) to view the entire thing. This companion to the Dune series is a must-have for any fan who wants to revisit this science fiction world and explore it even further. Blade Runner 2049), this one I really feel like I can sit down and read it for a while, whilst also enjoying the fabulous artwork.
