I don't have any Sanguinary Guard to show how a full gold model would look like, but parts and pieces might give you an idea. alternatively for a more brasssy look I do the same except use nightshade wash and then final highlight with a bit of ledbelcher on top of the gold. Finally… I say finally, there’s still a lot of work on them now, as they’ve got a lot of small parts that I haven’t done yet, so start to finish, here’s how I did each section. Retributor I stumbled upon this when looking for a cheaper way to do Gold for my Custodes force. My problem was that I had A LOT of Custodes to do (120 infantry, 10 vehicles) so I wanted a spray of some sort to speed things up. However, I needed a matching gold brush-on paint for touching things up. Finding a spray that matches a brush-on in Gold is VERY hard. Gamer Network Limited, Gateway House, 28 The Quadrant, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 1DN, United Kingdom, registered under company number 03882481. Never thought of Sepia wash for gold, I think that will be the next thing, followed by drybrushing Brass Scorpion and some kind of lighter gold over brown. I'll still try my friend's idea, but given the steps, I may save it for last. After enjoying the time savings from spraying my first batch of 40k terrain with Citadel’s Wraithbone rattle can — a primer and base coat in one — I decided to go the same route with my custard lads. They’re 90% gold; this is a potentially huge time savings.Below I’ve put up a few pictures of a Retributor with the annoying textured paint, and with the Prime who was barely textured. I’d definitely say this was because I didn’t shake the can enough. The second comparison is between the front of the textured Retributor’s leg, and the rear which is smooth. Flooring and skulls – The same as the ribbons. I added the highlights to the most rearward facing edges on each miniature to tie the bases together. The best Citadel paint for gold and brass Gang leaders need a bit of bling - and Retributor Armour makes this gold-plated servoclaw a real eye-catcher. And face-puncher. | Image credit: Caelyn Ellis The base colours are pretty standard, so if you’ve read through any of my Stormcast tutorials or watched any of the videos on our youtube channel (here), then you’ll have a fair idea.

Which color primer are you using? With gw I've found that the darker sprays are more consistent at looking great from start to finish. A post shared by Brushstroke (@brushstroke77) on Aug 16, 2019 at 6:27am PDT More Tutorials From BrushstrokeI wanted to do my Custodes in NMM (Non metallic metal) but also wanted something I could replicate across a whole army without losing the will to live. After many hours of watching people wet blend / glaze etc I came up with this. It’s not the most realistic gold but I think it looks good and most importantly doesn’t take too long. People have described it as “cell shaded” which I like. The process is the same for vehicles or infantry, I just use an airbrush on the vehicles (but exactly the same colours and steps). The steps are quite repetitive and it looks a mess almost right until the end so keep persevering with it Golds Final highlight the bottom-right of the jewel with an even smaller layer of Baharroth Blue mixed with White. Fortunately, I did not have any of these problems with Greedy Gold. Notice that I tried the final prototype, but I was assured it is the real deal. Should I notice a difference to the retail version, I will update this post accordingly.

Retributor Armour: Best Gold Metallic Paint? [Review]

Do you paint a lot of gold in your miniatures? If there’s a gold metallic paint you prefer, let me know in the comments. I’m always looking for better ways to get the miniature painting job done! And there you have it. Add any further small details you may want, but they’re all ready to go slay the enemies of the Emperor.

Final Comparison

Compared to terrain, which, broadly, is flat and regular, miniatures are much fussier to spray paint. They’re covered in little nooks and crannies.

I have tried many different acrylic golds and this range is the best range of metallic paints if you airbrush, they have the least graininess (I believe they are the finest ground pigment on the market for acrylic metallic paints) to the paint finish and they shoot supersmooth out of a airbrush: Add dots of pure white over the previous steps. This is the bit where suddenly it looks like metal and it’s very satisfying. You really are aiming for small dots (unless it’s a vehicle then you can go for bigger patches. Reds Loincloth, shoulders and chest emblem – Added white to Kantor Blue and highlighted, then added a little more white to the mix and highlighted again.
