The Devil Wears Prada is arguably better in some ways than the book, possibly due to the acting and the heavy emphasis on the visuals.

It’s frustrating to me, mostly because I like what you say about the other movies, but I question whether it’s accurate given that the Wicked assertion seems faulty to me. Surprisingly, much of the script was true to the book, but with the incredible Italian landscapes that you can’t summon up in your head if you have never had the pleasure of seeing them. It is beautifully drawn by Studio Ghibli and has some wonderful voice-acting in the English version (Billy Crystal, Christian Bale, Jean Simmons, etc).It is a tale of revenge, honor, and the quest for justice ensues as Maximus, reduced to slavery, rises as a gladiator to seek retribution against the tyrant who betrayed him.

The movie was beautifully shot, and I admire Edward Norton as an actor, but the film completely butchered Maugham’s very finely wrought–but frank and often upsetting–story. Fun, complicated and sometimes ridiculous storyline, cool shit, it's like a horror soap opera and I'm into that. Also I think Bridget Jones’s Diary, About A Boy, and High Fidelity were awesome both as books AND film. Okay, so the odd dropped Kirk zinger didn’t exactly tank the movie, but no director likes feeling gagged when it comes to gags. But Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Rian Johnson’s sequel to the surprise 2019 hit, takes on that challenge with the inventiveness necessary to advance the genre.I was linked to this from another blog, and I have to say, I find it very… unreliable when anyone recommends something they haven’t seen yet. What ensues is a story about the macabre family with supernatural powers peppered with comic elements. Also LOVED both THE HELP book and movie, they did an awesome job, ditto for The Secret Life of Bees.

I read it and saw the movie while in high school…the book should have had a warning that it included MUCH more sexual and drug references in it. It’s hard to even say that, as written, she was boring or bland – it feels like she’s hardly present in the text at all. The film features some of the most iconic action sequences in cinema history, such as the opening gladiatorial battle and the final battle against the Roman army. International products have separate terms, are sold from abroad and may differ from local products, including fit, age ratings, and language of product, labeling or instructions.I saw the movie first and wanted to read the book because in my experience, the book had always better. The film tackles the serious topic with a lot of heart and humour and takes the viewer on an emotional journey through tears and laughter. When her husband discovers she’s having an affair, he demands that she come with him to the Chinese interior where he is needed to deal with a cholera epidemic. Elvis gradually loses the people who love him most: first his mother, then Priscilla and Lisa Marie. She has been sold by her father for an arranged marriage to a wealthy landowner, a New Zealand frontiersman, named Alisdair.

When an alternate-universe version of Evelyn’s husband Waymond ( Ke Huy Quan) beseeches her to help him save the multiverse, the hurt and disconnection between mother and daughter figure strongly in the battle. The third highest grossing Star Wars film was nominated for Best Visual Effects at the Academy Awards. Interesting 🙂 I wrote a blog post recently about whther it’S better to read the book first and wathc the film later, or the other way round. I have a theory about Everything Everywhere All at Once, which is that people who have experienced a contentious parental relationship will ride harder for this movie than anyone else.
