For more discussion on this and whether to opt for electric or manual, see our article is there such a thing as an eco-friendly electric toothbrush. Conclusion: good cleaning results but consider the alternatives Jon is a leading voice on electric toothbrushes and has been quoted by mainstream media publications for his opinions and expertise. When too much pressure is applied, the Pro 1 will automatically reduce the number of bristle movements to limit potential damage. But if you don’t know whether the sensor is active or not you can’t learn when you are brushing with too much force and make the necessary improvements. I just bought PRO 2 2000 White version and noticed it auto turns off after about 4 minutes 30 seconds. Is this normal? Review doesn’t mention anything about auto turn off. Braun claims it doesn’t auto turn off after 2 minutes. Reply

The handle is water resistant, so a rinse under the tap is perfectly fine. All the important electronics, including the battery, are sealed inside. The Pro 1 is the cheapest model in the Oral-B range to have a 3D cleaning motion rather than 2D. This means that in addition to the oscillating and rotating action, there are pulsations, which add a 3rd dimension to the cleaning effect for better results. Oral-B’s oscillating-rotating brush heads are smaller than the sonic style from the likes of Sonicare. They do make it easier to reach the tightest of spaces. I can confirm that the charging stand provided with the Pro 2 2000 I have is made in Germany. ReplyThanks for the review. I’ve bought this model and have since noticed toothpaste in liquid form has made its way into the section at the top of the brush handle where the metal prong comes out and connects to the brush head. Can you please tell me if it’s okay and safe to clean this section (once the brush head is removed) under running water? If it’s not do you know what’s the best way of preventing and/or clearing up the paste that makes its way inside the handle? I’m concerned that this could eventually damage the brush if not cleaned. Thanks again. Reply It's common knowledge these days, but everyone is recommended to spend two full minutes cleaning their teeth. As a nod to this, the Oral-B Pro 2 2500 provides an audible warning via a slight pause in the brush motor every 30 seconds. This acts as a cue during brushing for you to change your focus between the four different quadrants in your gob: upper right, upper left, lower right and lower left. It’s a nice touch that works really well. Perfect for your everyday carry, this leather briefcase from Harber has space for a laptop, tablet, notebook, accessories and more Protruding from the body, the power button is easy for the fingertip to detect. You do need to give it a fairly firm push, so those with dexterity issues might find it a bit more challenging.

Not being a smart toothbrush the total number of components used are less, thus less waste is created when the brush no longer works. I can’t say that I have ever noticed this getting inside the handle. If you think the seal around here may be loose or there is a risk moisture is getting in, you may want to speak to Oral-B. Quite a few toothbrushes today have electronic mechanisms built into the handle that give visual alerts when it is time to replace the brush head. This can be helpful, but brushes that offer this are more expensive. You don’t get such alerts from the Pro 1. If you’re trying not to spend too much it’s not a feature worth worrying about

Brushing for the full 2 minutes is very important, but just as important, if not more so, is using the right technique. Make sure you learn how to brush your teeth properly — you don’t use an electric brush in the same way you do a manual. The visible pressure sensor will alert you when you are brushing too hard However, there are also variants that include a basic, but perfectly functional travel case that holds the handle and up to 2 brush heads. The pacer helps achieve this. It momentarily pauses the brushing action every 30 seconds to tell you to move on to the next part of the mouth. After 2 minutes the alert changes slightly to tell you that you have brushed for long enough. With regards to the Oral-B 1 series specifically; it has limited box contents which reduces its weight during transportation compared to others that come with more items. The box could be made a bit smaller, saving space and resources.
