Description

A side effect of this difference in capacity is that the DC12 is 2dB quieter. This might not sound like much, but remember that the decibel scale is logarithmic so this is a noticeable difference. The DC12 is also 2.5 kilograms lighter so it’s easier to carry. Summary EcoAir recommends waiting for at least 10 minutes before making any attempts to remove the tank. Doing so will allow any excess moisture to drip into the collection tank rather than on your floor when you are in the process of emptying. A lid further minimizes the risks for spills as you walk over to a sink or drain to empty the tank. The water pours out through a small spout, so you just have to tilt the tank to empty it. Water Extraction Rate

With a capacity of 12 litres, the DC12 is ideal for flats and small homes (up to three bedrooms). If you have a larger home or a building that suffers with severe damp, the more powerful DC18 might be a better option. Quietness A standard two year warranty gives extra peace of mind, but at the heart is an extraction capability of max 18L per day. EcoAir strive for improved user experience and, as such, look for functions that meet our customers’ high expectations and needs. If you are looking for something highly efficient and with an incredible ability to clear moisture, then this is the perfect unit for the job. The Compact Portable EcoAir DC18 Dehumidifier not only allows you and your family to breathe easier, but it also comes with an attractive array of functions that allow it to give full control, flexibility and superior performance. However, you may have to put up with a modest noise level at higher settings, but it is well worth it. Where To Buy?

Which? Product Review

Considering its price and size, this is one of the best dehumidifiers for your conservatory if you want a relatively large unit on a budget. It achieves a good middle ground between size, performance and price. In terms of performance, this dehumidifier can make a visible difference inside the home – reducing condensation on the windows and improving the overall indoor temperature. The DC18 MK2 will indicate “Tank Full” and shut down when the collection tank is full. This unit also includes an “Auto Restart”, handy if there is any interruption to the power supply. The function will enable an automatic restart when power is restored, remembering the previous setting. When water tank is full or removed, the controls are disabled.

The DC12 and DC18 are very similar models. In fact, the only real difference is in the capacity. As the names suggest, the DC12 has a maximum capacity of 12 litres per day, while the DC18 can handle 18 litres per day. Both models have the same size water tanks and include identical control panels. A standard two year warranty gives extra peace of mind, but at the heart is an extraction capability of 18L per day. The EcoAir DC12 dehumidifier is an excellent option for small houses and flats. It’s great at extracting water at room temperature and above. The machine is also relatively quiet, compared to other refrigerant dehumidifiers, and has a range of useful features. We also like that it has a large 3.5 litre water tank despite the relatively slim design.Continuous drainage function– if you don’t want to worry about emptying the dehumidifier, the drainage function could be useful. A pipe is included with the model although this is only one metre long. These machines are the ‘originals’ when it comes to dehumidifying – their design has been around for a long time. I also recommend looking out for adjustable humidity settings, as these allow you to control how much moisture will be removed. A range of 30 – 80% will be appropriate for most UK conservatories . For reference: optimal humidity in the home is between 30 – 50 %. Not only can this dehumidifier help reduce dampness in conservatories and bathrooms, it can also speed up the process of drying washing inside by removing excess moisture from the air. There’s no specific laundry setting, but there is an optional 2h/4h timer to make it easier to use. This British family-run company makes both compressor and desiccant units and this is its award-winning flagship compressor model. It’s not the prettiest of appliances, granted, but you know what's uglier? Mould up your walls.

A lot of dehumidifiers describe themselves in litres – 20 L, 16 L, 10 L and so on. This number doesn’t refer to their tank size, but instead relates to their capability – it refers to the maximum amount of water the machine can extract from the air in one day. This particular compressor model boasts a moisture extraction rate of 10.26 litres per day and comes with a 2.6-litre container which will need to be emptied from time to time (thankfully the unit turns itself off when full). However, a 12-litre and new 20-litre version are also available for those with bigger rooms. Most buyers were pleased with the fact that the DC18 is easy to 1) use, 2) move around, and 3) empty. There are mixed opinions regarding how tolerable noise levels are from the DC18, but the good news is that it comes with a quieter low fan speed. Manage controlled sessions too with the convenient 2 and 4 hour timer function. Extracting moisture in the home reduces humidity levels, protects properties, possessions and improves well being. Capable of extracting up to max 18 Litres of water per day and collectable via a large internal tank (or by continuous drainage, where a hose is also included). Dehumidifiers can make such a difference to the air quality in your conservatory. If the windows are ever wet with condensation, or there is mould or damp growing on the walls, a dehumidifier will help remove to much moisture from the air. Ideally, the humidity of a home should sit between 30 – 50%.

As with all dehumidifiers, the 25L’s extraction rate varies depending on the temperature and humidity in the room but, to use an extreme example, at a rather stifling 30˚C and 80% humidity it will absorb 24.96 litres in a 24-hour period. That’s a lot of water extracted from seemingly nowhere. Don’t worry about it overflowing either since it will switch off when the float in the five-litre water tank hits the top. If there is mild damp, you’ll want a dehumidifier with a 14.5 L capacity for a large conservatory . For small and medium conservatories (up to 45 m²), get a dehumidifier with at least a 5.5 L capacity. For more severe damp, look for a capacity of at least 7.5 L if it’s a small/medium conservatory . For larger spaces, choose a 20 L dehumidifier. In terms of performance, this dehumidifier reduces the humidity sufficiently that there is a noticeable increase in the indoor temperature, as well as visibly less condensation on windows. When used on turbo, it can be a useful machine to speed up the process of drying clothes inside; however, this mode can be quite noisy. There are various warning lights on the control panel. These include a “full tank” and “clean filter” lights. While this is a minor feature, we like how the DC12 reminds you when it requires basic maintenance to keep it running smoothly and efficiently. The most important buttons are for adjusting target humidity. These can increase or decrease humidity in 5% increments, giving you precise control over the interior conditions of your home. This value for humidity is always displayed clearly so you know what the machine is aiming towards. The humidity can range between 35% to 80%.The Compact EcoAir DC18 Dehumidifier makes a decent attempt at combining control, performance, and flexibility; at least as flexible as you can go with this large unit. With a 3.5-litre tank capacity conveniently positioned at the face of the dehumidifier, you are able to access the tank easily without having to shift the entire unit. Sliding the tank out might be a bit rough, but fortunately, there is a lid covering the tank to avoid instances of spillage. The machine also features laundry mode for drying clothes, night mode where it runs at a low fan speed with audible beeps and control panel lights switched off, continuous mode, and stand-alone air purifying mode. Running costs are stated as 3.3p / hour (that’s 4.5 cents) based on 15.32p (21.02 cents) / kWh, and do remember that in Smart Humidity Control mode it’s unlikely that it will be running 24/7 unless your home has a serious damp problem. The Electriq uses very little energy (180 watts) and comes with an air purifier function replete with plasma ionizer and UV sterilisation for extra air-cleaning pizzazz. According to Electriq it also ‘dries laundry more efficiently than a tumble dryer’. We’re not convinced it was better than our Bosch tumbler but it did dry a pair of jeans in about 90 minutes, so that’s okay. But enough of that, lets bask in some stats: The Electriq’s water collection tank capacity is four litres; its extraction rate is up to 12 litres per day; it has a 24-hour timer and an operating temperature range of 5˚C to 35˚C. As the name implies, this dehumidifier from EcoAir can extract up to 18 litres per day. However, it is worth noting that the extraction rate will depend on the humidity and temperature level within your home. To collect the stated maximum amount of water, you would have to replicate the test climate that the EcoAir DC18 was manufactured to operate in, which is usually only found in hot bathrooms after showering. The EcoAir DC18 underwent tests in conditions of 30ᵒ C and 80% RH to achieve the 18L extraction rate.
