Happiness is a 1990 album from the British pop band The Beloved that Martyn Phillips produced. Happiness reached #14 on the U.K. Albums Chart on its release, in March 1990, and subsequently reached #154 on the U.S. Billboard 200 Pop Albums Chart.

The alternative supergroup - which initially featured Kim Deal (Pixies), Tanya Donnelly (Throwing Muses) and Josephine Wiggs (The Perfect Disaster) issued their Steve Albini-produced debut album, which featured When I Was A Painter and a cover of The Beatles' Happiness Is A Warm Gun. After the completion of Happiness but prior to its release, "The Sun Rising" was issued as a single and became the band's commercial breakthrough. [3] It entered the UK Singles Chart in October 1989 and peaked at number 26 the following month. [9] "Hello" was issued as the follow-up single and became an international hit, [2] receiving much airplay and earning the duo a reputation as potential "successors to the Pet Shop Boys," recalls Lewis.
