Simply remove the spotlight from the wall and slot the surround behind it. Then re-fit the light into the wall. Outside 100mm – Inside 60mm, Outside 110mm – Inside 65mm, Outside 120mm – Inside 70mm, Outside 120mm – Inside 72mm, Outside 130mm – Inside 75mm, Outside 145mm – Inside 86mm, Outside 150mm – Inside 90mm, Outside 170mm – Inside 135mm, Outside 190mm – Inside 100mm, Outside 80mm – Inside 36mm, Outside 85mm – Inside 51mm, Outside 220mm – Inside 70mm The spotlight surrounds come with protective film on both sides, this must be removed before fitting. Ok - two choices - you either fill that hole completely and then cut the hole again, or else get a round former of the correct size and insert that in to your chosen panel first, and then shove that up t'hole. The second option is best.

As KIAB says, you basically need a small bag of patching plaster (your local household store will have this for a few squid) and some form of panel that will go up in t'hole and sit flat on the top of the ceiling p'board. So see if you can get a round piece of downpipe or similar that you can make the correct size - it may be that you'll need to cut a slice out of it and close it to a smaller circle. Then get your flat panel - ply or whatevs. Drill a hole in that panel the correct size, and then make the panel small enough to pass up the messy hole, but large enough to then sit flat on top. Make sense?

Trim away any loose bits from the existing hole using a craft knife - angle the blade so that you cut the bits away at a bevel, tapering in towards the hole. Anyhoo, once set, coat the exposed edges of the p'board with PVA and fill up to your round former with the filler. As soon as it's set, remove former (if you've cut a slice out of it, then it'll fold in and reduce in diameter and come oot easily. The Downlight Spotlight Surrounds can be fitted behind the spotlight, so will not damage the lights.
