About this deal

The front grille is nicely modelled and the model sports French number plates which I believe indicate that the car was registered in Paris. Just the place for a trendy foreign car. The bonnet correctly features the off centre bulge needed to clear the carburetors. And after a day succumbing to the S660’s sweetness, I’m struggling to see why – beyond their fragile proportions not yielding spiffing crash results – we’re deprived of this motley crew of mini-cars. Europe likes its city cars strong and stylish, it would seem, and more than a little premium. But everything that’s fashionable now – shrunken three-cylinder engines, a focus on cheap tax and a U-turn on swelling dimensions – has been evident in the Japanese market for more than six decades, with little stars like the S660 peppered across that timeline. I am sure that you will have your own horror stories to share, based on personal experience. So don’t be shy, remember we’re all here to listen, and tell us about the engineering maladies that have afflicted the cars you’ve owned over the years. One thing’s for certain when it comes to owning cars with problems, you’re not alone.

They’d set off two days earlier from Land’s End, taking turns on John’s bike and one from the Honda press fleet, and wearing bright orange Alzheimer’s Research T-Shirts over their bike kit. According to the former keeper, it was inherited by Ringo Starr when Lennon and Yoko Ono moved from the country estate to New York. With the low-carbon market very much in its burgeoning stages of development, the Insight arrived as a breath of fresh air against its – admittedly limited – competition. In typical hybrid fashion, there’s a split rear window tailgate, but all-round vision is good, despite the super swoopy styling. Although not cheap to buy compared to some mini or monkey bikes, the Honda Monkey 125, and its MSX125 Grom sibling, should be as cheap as chips to run. EM90 is a business class electric people carrier with a 458-mile range - but is it coming to the UK? Jarman has owned his 1959 VW Beetle for 13 years: “The first keeper bought the car from Colbornes in Ripley [the first Volkswagen dealer in Britain] in 1959 and had it for four years until 1963, when he went abroad and sold it to his nephew. Enzo Ferrari apparently once said “I don’t sell cars; I sell engines. The cars I throw in for free since something has to hold the engines in.” It’s a good assumption that if the drivetrain is good, the car is good. I’m not arguing with Enzo. He knew how to build a car.

This is also made possible thanks to stop/start technology, which can also be found on other Honda scoots; such as Britain’s best-selling PCX125. Areas with the highest ratio of vehicles stolen last year - find out the risk level for your motor outside your home For the average commuter who buys a J125, the good news is that they’ll save a fortune, since after 62 miles of riding on the launch with the throttle pinned, the fuel gauge was still showing full. Ah, that was more like it – with handling now tight and precise, I was soon whizzing past those grannies on city street corners and carving through bends on the mountain roads above Malaga with a grin on my face. Lovely. At Wigan the weather broke for an amazing ride through the Lake District, and with the forecast for Tuesday looking terrible, they decided to ride non-stop on the Monday, which is where I caught up with them after a stunning ride through Cairngorm scenery which managed to be both masculine and feminine, with the icy coldness of the lochs and the brutal grandeur of the mountains softened by the pale purple dusting of heather at their edges. The appeal of Volkswagens is not entirely lost on me, although I think Jarman’s is the only Beetle I have driven for any serious distance.
