READ NEXT: Dyson V8 Absolute review: Still the best cordless vacuum? Dyson V7 Animal review: Price and competition As with all vacuum cleaners, you’ll need to remove and clean the filters from time to time and these are easy to access by simply pulling the pin on top. The 0.54-litre bin is extremely easy to empty, too: by simply pulling the lever at the top, the bin door flips open and the main body of the V7 motor unit slides up, pushing out dust and debris. This not only makes it easier to empty than the V6 but also makes it a breeze to remove hairs that might have become tangled inside. Sand was not a problem on hard floors. But when it came to coarse dirt like lentils and oat flakes, the V7 definitely had a harder time. The coarse dirt was only pushed around in front of the roller and some of it was even skidded around. It’s important to you that your cordless vacuum cleaner is not too heavy. With 2.3 kg, the Dyson V7 is a real lightweight. The difference between the models becomes even more confusing when comparing their suction power, where the V7 is the weakest of the lot. It has 21 Airwatts on powerful mode and 100 Airwatts in max mode. By comparison, the V8 has 22 and 115, while the V6 has 28 and 100, respectively.

You want a cordless vacuum cleaner with a 2-in-1 function that allows you to clean both your home and your car, for example. The conversion works perfectly well and gives you much more possibilities in use.

Dyson V7 Animal review: Verdict

However, the Dyson V7 achieved a more than satisfactory overall result of 92% on short carpets. Cleaning on Long Pile Carpets The battery indicator is a single light on one side of the V7’s handle (as opposed to the three-bar light found on the V8). Also on the main unit is the slider to switch suction modes – while it’s located right in front of the handheld unit, you will need your other hand to swap modes if you’re doing so in the middle of a clean. That’s the only thing you’re going to need both hands for, though, as the V7 is remarkably easy to use single-handed. Performance Dyson’s range of vacuum cleaners can be very confusing to a layman. There are both corded and cordless models with both categories inundated with new products every year. The V7 Animal isn’t new. Released in 2017, a year after the V8 and two years after the V6, it aims to bridge the gap between portability and performance. Is this just a filler for the British-born company or is there still a market for it in 2020?

You're looking for a cordless vacuum cleaner with a good cleaning performance and a decent runtime. 100 air watts and a runtime of 30 minutes speak for themselves here. During the test, the devices have to vacuum different kinds of dirt from different floor types. Overall, the Dyson V7 did a very good job. The cordless household helper only reached its limits on hard floors. Cleaning on Hard Floors The best solution for this is a soft roller, which is supplied with many cordless vacuum cleaners and it’s ideal for cleaning hard floors.
