Whichever camera you opt for, whether its an RX10 II, RX10 III or the very latest RX10 IV, you'll have a camera that shoots stunning 20.1 megapixel still images, ultra high definition 4K video at 30p, and steady and shake free shots with a phenomenal zoom range. Sony RX10 II vs RX10 III vs RX10 IV Key Differences Feature But for videographers, the FZ2500 with its fully-articulating touchscreen, built-in variable ND filter and similar zoom range might make it the more sensible choice, especially given its lower price point (though we found its lens performance inferior to its Sony counterparts). You don't get the cool, super-high-speed frame rate options offered by the Sony cameras, but 1080/120p is not too shabby. Availability There haven't been any major advancements here since the RX10 II was released, but as with megapixel count, there doesn't necessarily need to be. The ability to shoot Full HD 1080p video at 120 frames per second to shoot slow-motion video, and ultra-high definition 4K video at 30p or 25p is exceptional for a compact bridge camera like the RX10 IV, and there's not really any advancement to be made here, so Sony have kept the tried and tested tech. focusing And there’s now another plus to the Sony way of doing things. In a welcome update, the RX10 II can now shoot when connected to an external USB power source. Powering-up earlier models would temporarily ignore any connected power sources, but now you can use them to keep shooting when your battery is low – great for extended filming or timelapse shooting. This capability was one of the hidden upgrades in the Mark II Alpha A7 series and I’m very glad to see it here as well on the RX100 IV. As time goes on, we photographers expect more and more, so it's no surprise that the RX10 III and newest RX10 IV also record ultra high definition 4K video.

The Sony viewfinder was also a fair bit brighter plus its much higher resolution provides a much more detailed view. I was able to make out fine detail in the RX10 II’s viewfinder that simply wasn’t visible on the FZ330 / FZ300. Very soon, I decided I would use two RX10's so that both produced closely matched colours and quality. At about this time, Sony released the RX10 iii with a 600mm (equivalent) zoom, so I was initially tempted to go for that until I discovered it didn't have a built in ND filter. Throughout this review I’ve put each of the capabilities to the test and found the RX10 II delivers on its claims. Whether you actually need these enhanced features is up to you, but the Mark II can certainly do things which other cameras can only dream of.

This puts the RX10 IV in a class above its predecessors, the RX10 III and RX10 II, with faster and more accurate autofocus than anything that came before it. The 315 point Phase Detection autofocus system in the Mark IV covers approximately 65% of the entire image area of the image sensor, offering widespread and dense coverage of AF points. Focal Range At 1040k the Lumix FZ330 / FZ300’s screen actually shares the same colour resolution as the Sony RX10 II which simply employs an additional white dot which in theory should deliver a brighter view, although in my tests the two models looked similar.

A camera, unlike a phone, has a primary function of creating photographs. The LCD is used to visualize the end result as well as displaying information toward that end.

Physically, very little has changed between the RX10 and RX10 Mark II, with the Mark II featuring an updated mode dial, with one custom mode (instead of two), and the addition of a "HFR" mode, which stands for High Frame Rate (Video). The delete button is now customisable as the second custom button (C2), and the top custom button is now labelled as C1.
