In today’s post I’ll share my unboxing and review, along with my thoughts about how it compares to electronic cutting machines. Opening the sides at the same time is supposed to create suction and hold the machine onto the table. Besides the Gold Adhesive Foil and the Plates, Mat, and “Thank You” die that came with the Cuttlebug, I also used a small notebook and my Cricut Essential Tool Set to trim down the foil and to weed out the little holes in the “o” and “a” after it was cut. So I tried it, reading what I could of the instructions (which were not clear on how to arrange the paper, die and plates).

This will guarantee a quality embossed image once you have processed the folder through the machine. The B Plates - Cutting, A Plate - Spacer, and C Plate - Adapter (sold separately) are different thicknesses so that you can mix and match. Cricut does include a brochure, but if you prefer video help, I recommend this short video by Anna Griffin.

Use the three different spacer plates available for the Cricut Cuttlebug to emboss everything from thin tissue to heavier weight leather. I have several friends who love theirs, and they are able to use the cutting plates from other machines (ie Sizzix and QuicKutz). The cutting dies give you the flexibility to cut various materials including -paper, card, chipboard, plastic, foam and more! With the dies, embossing folder, Plates, and Mat that come in the box, you are ready to make your first project… sort of.
