I am a very big fan of vanilla notes, but the way vanilla is mixed up with the ginger, vetiver and cedar woody notes in this cologne just makes it repelling to me... This fragrance's opening is rather medicinal and strong. It's not fresh but it is unique. Hugo Dark Blue is definitely a masculine fragrance. I think a woman would find this scent difficult to wear. The huge disappointment is that it does not last at all. O get it for two hours, but after that…. nada… Hugo Boss launched Hugo Dark Blue in 1999 as an oriental spicy fragrance for men. Hugo Dark Blue opens up with orange, ginger, grapefruit, lemon and lime then moves into a blend of mahogany, cypress, sage, geranium and cardamom and then finishes off with patchouli, benzoin, vetiver, cedar and vanilla. the problem is that you can the best ever smell but if it doesn't last on the skin, then what is it, the kind of scent that is here for a fun time, not a long time. If i wanted that, i would get something like Milton Lloyd's Bondage. It's like Hugo by Hugo Boss... you smell it, its nice but its not as out there enough to make you wonder about it. The scent found in the perfume helps alleviate your mood whether you're at the nightclub, at the office, or any other place the day might take you. So...Maybe my tastes have changed, or maybe it's been formulated, or a combination of both. It's hard to imagine but I could ever not like this. It's freaking magical. It's a tiny bit sweet but the spicy cola vibe mixed with the aromatic citrus gives it some lift and brightness. On my skin, the dry down is all vanilla and cedar. A very strong and masculine scent, that's perfect for evenings and formal wear. It worked on my skin, however mileage varies (as the comments here indicate), and it might not be for you...it's of very acquired taste.

Hugo Boss Dark Blue comes off as a spicy ginger fragrance, almost like a spicy ginger beer.. I don’t get vanilla here tho. Vanilla doesn’t appear to be present on my skin which is no big deal because I’m not a huge vanilla fan.. This is awesome.. I think this is meant to be worn casual more than dressed up.. This would be great for the office, and casual nights out and parties.. A great value for money I got a 2.5 oz bottle for 26 dollars... Very very nice!! It comes across as sort of futuristic. It doesn't follow conventions, and sits in between a aromatic spicy and an oriental, in a way that makes it work in the heat and cold weather. It's sort of weird. On paper this sounds in the area of Allure Homme Edition Blanche, but it really isn't. It's a deeper and darker scent. these terms and conditions in full. If you disagree with any part of these terms and conditions, do Only the 2nd Hugo Boss cologne I have ever bought and again I'm very impressed. I really like this scent and it makes me want to try more from Hugo Boss. You Get a lot of citrus in this one, spice (Ginger, geranium), woody notes (Cedar, Mahogany, Vetiver) vanilla and green notes (Cypress, Sage) and yes I can smell all of those notes in it perfectly. Like i said, im really impressed. you can somewhat smell a chocolate or cocoa smell, its probably the mahogany blending with the vanilla This scent is pretty safe, I would blind buy, its very cheap, great for any age guy. Only downside is it doesn't last that long, but like i always say, you can just apply more and also don't rub it in. A subtle soft yet touch of sharp scent. I personally like this one a lot, but I didn't notice it being an attention grabbing type of scent.

but still i love it. get many compliments n its easy go wear to me esp evenings. i remember first time i tried it ginger blew my mind n asking my self a perfume can be this way?I love the citrus tones in this fragrance. That’s what you get on the outset. As long as it lingers, it smells very nice. Perfect for the non-winter months. It has what I call a chemical/syrupy quality (similar to Joop! Jump Summer Temptation). but if that doesn't bother you the spiciness is nice, and it feels like a marine note is in here too. After this faded I got very little, but it was only a dab sampling. When I wear it normally I'll update this review. Good longevity and projection. It seems like a versatile scent. Doesn't strike me as one that would be a big hit with the ladies though.
