I think though I would have liked more to have been done with Rina as I feel she could have played a much bigger part. The 31-year-old smothered Catherine Wells-Burr, 23, as she slept at their home in Chard in September 2012. They placed the body in the driver's seat and set fire to the car 20 minutes after Nowak had clocked into work at Numatic International, in the hope this would provide him with the perfect alibi. And with only the church fundraiser now between Pearl and Christmas, she invites McGuire along as her guest.

It was 13 years later a workman found her remains in woodland near Thornbury near the M5 on October 5, 2009.

He said Sir David's death would "send shockwaves across the parliamentary community and the whole country". Detective Constable Karen Thomas, sensed something wasn't right when she met Tabak in Holland to get a statement. Rina, the tweed skirt wearing, retired actress was actually a secondary character as troubled policeman Mac was the real star. He had a conversation with her and she told him that Marie had an evil look in her eye and that the evil was so strong that Miss O'Connor had plucked her eyes out. I found this book very enjoyable and hard to put down once I started to read it (and then forgot to do a review for it Sorry) Murder on Sea had lots of great twists and turns throughout and the killer took me by surprise.

Murder on Sea follows the classic cosy crime structure, with the author leaving small clues for the reader and a final scene where the brilliant Pearl reveals everything and leaves us all amazed with her obvious talent. Mac has only just transferred to the seaside town of Frantham and as the new kid on the block is given the task of speaking with Mrs Freer who is the most recent victim of a spate of burglaries, however the day after she is found bludgeoned to death and Mac is determined to find out why and by whom? I love how she always follows her intuition and as Sherlock Holmes, himself, Pearl notices all the little details no one else seems to notice. Melanie Hall was last seen outside the former Cadillacs nightclub in Walcot Street, Bath in the early hours of June 9 1996. Marple, and I wouldn’t quite agree, other than Rina’s in her early sixties and knows the people in her neighbourhood, and human behaviour, well.Noreen O'Connor was acting as the nurse, housekeeper, secretary and companion for Marie Tarks and Frank Tiarks. First book in a series about Rina, an older theatrical boarding house proprietor who used to be in a TV show about a lady sleuth something like Jessica Fletcher and Mac who is a detective with what sounds something like PTSD from his previous job. Two teenagers were given life sentences for the brutal street attack which killed the A-level student as he walked home on the eve of his 18th birthday.
