At first i struggled with this book till i "got" the authors writing style, its as if he is simply telling you the story face to face in his own conversational style ,as opposed to trying to "tell" a story.

Only slight criticism is i would have preferred the description at the back of the book, concerning the death of Duffy at the start, or at least a short synopsis of his ending. He also hopes to turn youths away from a life of crime too, and warns youngsters of the dangers of knife crime on Facebook. He had a really troubled childhood, he had a father whose behaviour would just not be acceptable in the modern day. He is the author of several successful true crime books, many of which have been serialised in the national press.

A legend in his own lifetime, he was the ultimate maverick troubleshooter whose size and ability to fight enabled him to live just as he wishes, never forgetting the deprived community he came from, who in times of need, considered him the fourth emergency service. From the author of the best-selling Paul Sykes books Unfinished Agony and Further Agony Jamie Boyle.

With a frightening capacity for extreme violence, Tyneside protection hardman Viv struck fear into the hearts of his enemies, yet his benevolence to local charities and schemes to keep kids away from drugs and crime was well known - any patch that Viv protected was guaranteed free of both. Having said all that the book is amazing the end was horrible to read but not surprising in the least. Up until the age of about 14, Lee was severely bullied himself and he’d often run home crying his eyes out”, Jamie said.Lee is a fascinating character, a bullied bully who definitely lived life to the full, however asking ppl their views on Lee and then making each opinion a chapter in the book makes for a boring read. Containing many first hand and previously unheard accounts from some of Duffy's closest friends and associates, this book will finally confirm who the man was and what he was really all about. Lee’s later behaviour was the inevitable result of the completely inhuman treatment he experienced as a child. No stone will be left unturned and this book will not shy away from controversy, but will aim to provide an unbiased and balanced view on the ‘Boro' icon . But according to a new book he was once the victim - “severely bullied” - and suffering at the hands of his heavy drinking father.
