Perhaps with the name of this beer, BrewDog thought they were ending the conversation, although even this monster was eventually surpassed – several times, as we’ve already seen. Open a can of Revision’s Dr. Lupulin Triple IPA and your nostrils instantly flare. Unmistakable IPA flower power surrounds you in an aromatic cloud. Take it in and get ready for an adventure: this is one of the most potent beers on the IPA circuit. It’s important to understand that Dr. Lupulin (pronounce it loop-you-lin) is not a person. If she were, she would be the female god of the strong beer realm. Lupulin is hop fairy dust: a bitter yellowish powder found on glandular hairs beneath the scales of the flowers on the female hop plant.

Alcohol is, inescapably prominent, but you’ll also be able to find notes of things like cherries, chocolate, coffee and vanilla, making this a strong but complex beer that’s fun to sample. Those were more innocent days though, and the Tactical Nuclear Penguin registered an ABV of “only” 32% – but that was still high enough to make it arguably the strongest beer ever brewed at the time. Magnum is a high-alcohol beer that can surprise you in more ways than one. For one, it boasts around 22% ABV, making it one of the strongest beers on this list.

The Strongest Beers In the World

Tactical Nuclear Penguin is a beer unlike any you have tried before - and you can buy yours here, in our online shop. Safarik said fans of 120 Minute IPA often try a bottle upon release and save a bottle to enjoy it in several years. Originating in a Scottish Brewery, The Brewmeister Snake Venom beer is a craft beer with the highest ABV in the world. At 67.5 % ABV, you won’t find a stronger beer on the market. This beer offers hoppy, malted carbonation. Two types of yeast and smoked peat malt give it a high alcohol content. It is a great beer if you are only having one. Brewmeister – Armageddon

Beers with ABVs between 10 and 15 percent include Avery Brewing Co.’s Bon-Bon Cerise at 15 percent ABV, Doggerlander Brewing Co.’s Essus B-Shot at 12 percent ABV and Grand River Brewery’s Triptych Warrior at 10 percent ABV. Add sugar to flocculate or gather the yeast. This process turns sugar into alcohol and settles to the bottom. Yeast consumes the remaining sugar. Boiling The brewer perfects craft beer. The brewing process begins and is altered throughout to create a variety of hand-crafted flavors. Lager Beer Managing director Lewis Shand said: “Snake Venom is not like other beers in that we’d not recommend drinking a bottle in one go. Why We Like It:The first collaboration between two of the world’s most prominent breweries, Scotland’s BrewDog and Schorschbräu Brewery, to make a list is Strength in Numbers, which has a 57.8% German ABV.It’s rich and full, and in many ways is very similar to the beer we just saw above, but it’s different enough to warrant trying, and those who like their beers to be big and strong are sure to love it.

The beer’s name “The End of History” derives from philosopher Francis Fukuyama’s book "The End of History and the Last Man", in which he postulates that democracy and political and economic liberalism will triumph and democracy will be the end point of political evolution. Utopias’ touch of Kosmic Mother Funk (a Samuel Adams sour beer) creates the acidity that highlights the beer’s fruity notes. The earthy funky tones come from Brettanomyces. Now that we’ve dived into the list of the strongest beers in the world, it’s worth getting reacquainted with our terminology. Put simply, beer is brewed through cereal grains, most commonly from malted barley. During the brewing process, fermentation of the starch sugars in the wort produces ethanol and carbonation in the resulting beer. Most modern beer is brewed with hops, which add a certain level of bitterness that we’ve come to enjoy. In commercial brewing, the natural carbonation effect is often removed during processing and replaced with forced carbonation. Another beer that is much more like a whiskey, the Esprit de Noel from Italian brewers Baladin is bright yellow in color and is warm and smooth to drink, displaying notes of wood and chocolate. It pours and looks like a whiskey but is aggressive on the nose, with earthy tones detectable beneath a miasma of alcohol. Another strong beer that prioritises taste where it could be shooting for more publicity. The Utopias 2017 from Sam Adams uses several strains of yeast and is aged in multiple barrels previously used to make all manner of liquors to achieve a fruity, malty, and subtle sweet flavour. Utopias is often best paired with a post-dinner dessert, like a pineapple upside-down cake or a sweet-glazed puff pastry. It can also work well with a strong-flavoured soup course like clam chowder.
