About this deal

The SID RL is all-new for 2018, adopting the same Charger 2 damper found in the SID RLC and World Cup models. Please note, this fork has a straight 1 1/8" steerer tube and 9mm QR dropouts nottapered and bolt through as pictured. The SID Select+ shares the same DebonAir+ air spring as the SID Ultimate and gets the same Charger Race Day 2 damper but without the same machining. Other than that, it shares its seals and damper fluid with the flagship model. If this seems confusing, don’t worry. You might get overwhelmed with the terms. Please give us a few minutes of explanations.

This can be adjusted to suit your preferences and to either hold in its firm setting more frequently, or not so frequently. However, don’t think that it’s weak because it is light. The straight wall aluminum build provides a strong structure. It also has torque cap compatibility. This allows additional stiffness to the structure. The 30 series is a budget-friendly suspension fork with between 80 and 120 mm of travel. These forks use steel stanchions and coil springs, which makes them a bit heavy. The Judy gold shines here too. It has an exceptionally light weight of 1814 grams. This is less than the 2258-2685 gm weight of the silver model.Adjustable rebound on Judy [B1] and Silver TK [A2] and Silver TK [A3], adjustable rebound and low speed compression on Gold RL [A2] and Gold RL [A3]. Then, there's the Pike Select+ that runs most of what the Ultimate gets but it drops the lightweight crown and Buttercups tech. This one looks to be OEM only and isn't available aftermarket.

Because mountain biking requires you to carry more weight over the front of the bike, the fork bears the lion’s share of the your weight. Most mountain bike forks will have some degree of adjustability, ranging from hard to soft, as well as certain models including adjustability in their length of travel. Argyle - The Argyle fork line is designed primarily for dirt jumpers. These forks are extremely rugged and durable, built for hard-hitting landings, but also can be quite heavy. The best way to confirm which spacing you have/need is to either measure your front wheel's hub width or consult your bike manufacturer's specification sheet. What features should I look for?

Fork travel is very important in terms of ride comfort, purpose, and handling. Riders typically improve the performance of their front suspension. They do this by increasing the amount of travel that their stanchions are capable of. Source: worldwidecyclery.com Then there's the SID SL Select+, an OEM fork that gets a DebonAir air spring, a Race Day 2 damper and SKF wiper seals. There's also Maxima Plush damping fluid, and just like the range-topping fork, it's available with 100mm or 110mm of travel and for 29-inch wheels. The ZEB Select+ shares many features with the flagship ZEB, including the DebonAir+ air spring, Charger 3 RC2 damper and Pressure Relief Valves, but it misses out on the vibration-damping ButterCups and machined crown. Designed specifically for use on dirt jump and slopestyle bikes, the Pike DJ features a custom-tuned Charger damper and Solo Air air spring designed to offer maximum progression for harsh landings and heavy compressions.

However, there are some factors to consider while choosing one. This will make things easier for you.The turnkey adjustment only allows rebound dampening. You cannot adjust the travel and compression. This is set by the factory. Winner: The winner is the Judy Silver model for its less price. But this cheap tag comes at a cost. So, Which One Is Better? Finally, the SID SL looks like another OEM fork, but this one gets a Rush XC damper with a DebonAir air spring. This fork gets the same seals and fluid as the rest of the range. This air spring allows you to externally adjust the travel by up to 30mm, depending on the fork. Motion Control

Another bit of tech found on Fox's recent forks is the Pressure Release Valves found just underneath the fork's seals. These are designed to release unwanted pressure in the fork lowers that are caused by variations in altitude or temperature. Simply give them a push and your fork will return to normal, restoring its performance. Hub End Cap Adapters The fork progressed through its travel pretty smoothly and seems to ramp up slightly. Near the end, It only bottomed out on one big hit, but that was more rider error than the fork and it wasn’t too harsh. Probably the best compliment I can give it is that for the majority of the ride I forgot about it. I was much more focused on the brakes and drivetrain and wasn't wondering if I could adjust the rebound or add/release pressure on the fork. It felt nice and neutral without requiring a laundry list of adjustments to suit my size and riding style. I opted for the 29er version with 120 mm of travel since I planned on pairing the Judy with an NS Bikes aluminum eccentric frame that’s more geared towards trail than cross country. The tapered steerer tube and boost hub spacing (both rare at this price point) along with post mounts for the disc brake and the ability to run 29 or 27.5+ tires were exactly what I was looking for. I’m not much of a weight weenie, so I don’t own a super precise scale, but the weight seemed reasonable for a 120 mm travel 29er fork. Building the fork up, there were no issues cutting the steerer tube, installing the star nut, or fitting the brake.Reba and Recon - Reba and Recon forks are biased towards less aggressive trail riding styles, making them ideal for cross country routes on hardtail or full suspension mountain bikes. They offer travel of 80 to 120 mm and are lighter than most comparably priced forks – the Reba line is slightly lighter and more expensive than the Recon line.
