Only Time Will Tell takes a cast of memorable characters from the ravages of the Great War to the outbreak of the Second World War, when Harry must decide whether to take his place at Oxford, or join the fight against Hitler s Germany. I also think Old Jack Tar is my favourite character in the book, though I don't want to give anything away as to why that is.

At the same time, it looks as though England may go to war with Germany, and Harry must consider what this means for his future.I once asked Mama if she could explain why he felt so strongly, but she didn’t seem to know any more than I did.
