Most of the plot was rather predictable so it's not the kind of thriller that you'll “never see coming”. This is a psychological thriller and we are told in the beginning it is "not for the faint hearted". Don't get me wrong, I 100% believe that she was a victim in her relationship with Nate, but the fact that she had absolutely no repercussions doesn't make sense.

That in itself isn't an issue, but after finishing the book I had a hard time fitting the prologue in with the rest of the story. Although it still would not have been ethical, making the teenager 18 would have been slightly better. When I saw the warning on this book that it may not be for the "faint of heart" I couldn't resist that requesting button. The characters are quite dysfunctional at times as they struggle with their past and the relationships they start to develop. This is not a small hiccup: it was consistently wrong as far as I read, which was up to the section entitled The Businessman. Eve thinks she should try to connect more with Hot Nate and let him read his poems to her in a park again like he used to (all I can think about are the Kens playing guitar at the Barbies for four hours on the beach), even though she doesn't even like poetry and would rather do quadratic equations because she likes MATH, goddammit.

Will she be able to stay out of trouble and overcome the challenges in her life, or will she be dragged down into yet another school scandal? She's a junior, and everyone at school hates her because last year there were rumors she had a relationship with her math teacher, Arthur Tuttle (who is decidedly NOT a hottie hot hot teacher as he evidently resembles Santa? Since I was entertained the whole way through, with the exception of the epilogue, I ended up giving it 3.

Once again, she has produced a thriller that absolutely smacks you in the face with a jaw dropping final twist of all twists. It serves as a warning to anyone of a sensitive or nervous disposition that this book really isn't for the fainthearted. An encouraging and uplifting read, capturing how teachers find ways to rise and meet the many challenges they face… Robbins captures not just the human reality of teaching, but the ways in which teaching is a deeply human endeavor, centering on the best of what human beings can be. Katerina Diamond has a particularly visceral way with words and has a great eye for plot development and character, she also is very obviously not afraid to push the boundaries.

As it turns out, our girl Eve has been making love (vomit) with the shoe salesman once a week for the past four months and wishes she could run away with him. The second thread involves 2 detectives that have been paired together to investigate one of the murders. The ‘misfit duo’ are thrown together thinking the move will punish them somehow, but unbeknown to those around them their individual suffering will make them more suited to catch a vicious killer than any of their esteemed colleagues with their popularity and ‘unblemished’ records. I figure myself to be pretty tough and unflinching after reading a lot of horror, graphic crime novels and serial killer chillers. With every chapter I had hopes that things would get better for her, but it was clear that she was very easily influenced.Support characters are as riveting and believable as the main characters, playing major roles in the outcome of this heart wrenching tale. But as they re drawn into a network of corruption, lies and exploitation, every step brings them closer to grim secrets hidden at the heart of their community. Addie is a loner student at the school who is bullied by her classmates after they blame her for a teacher being fired due to speculation surrounding an inappropriate relationship. Nate parks really far away from the entrance to the restaurant which is a dick move because she's still wearing those LOUIS VUITTON pumps with a four-inch heel. When a series of gruesome and brutal murders occur in and around Exeter, DS Adrian Miles and DS Imogen Grey are tasked to investigate and are soon involved in a very strange murder case.

She gets up each day, gets a kiss from her husband Nate, and heads off to teach math at the local high school. Addie notices Hot Nate is eating ravioli and ponders his filling selection and wishes she was eating dinner with him so he could share his thoughts about EAP poems with her (again with the Kens on the beach). We're supposed to believe that Addie left a recorded statement with a police officer detailing how she assaulted her math teacher then buried her alive, yet faced ZERO consequences?

It's quite graphic, don't get me wrong, and I've read of people who have put the book down, but I actually didn't think it was as bad as it was.
