About this deal

It was also very interesting to read about how the behind the scenes of the show worked and how everything was thought and planned beforehand by the crew. I guess that in every reality TV show there are a lot more staged situations than they want us to believe. If you are out there feeling like you are the only person going through something on your own - worrying that you might not be achieving at work or not feeling confident in your own skin, this book is designed to let you know you are not alone! There are too many references to social media, brands, designer clothes and make-up, that they divert the concentration in the middle of the book. This was not very likeable in the middle of family drama and sisterly fights.

Three years ago Issy Jones walked away from her dream because her family needed her. Today, she spends her days working in her mum's salon and her nights going out with her best friend, Molly. Life is good yet Issy can't help wishing for something more .We watch her get ready for a night out with her girlfriends in Newcastle. She says she is much more contained than she was during her Geordie Shore years, and is looking forward to it (hell, we’re all looking forward to it – I haven’t been out or young for years), but – “I’m already sweating behind my knees thinking how poorly I’m going to be tomorrow.” Those slippery definitions, lubricated with the perspiration of hangovers and regret. Then one day Amber is headhunted by the head of a majorly popular fashion house and all of a sudden Amberd dreams are coming true. The only downer that I have of this book is that the front cover, title and bio promise me a wonderfully festive read. However there is only a little bit that is set over the festive period. Which is a little bit of a let down. As I was looking forward to curling up with a delicious Christmas read. But nethertheless this is still a very sweet book This book is fun, a light hearted read, story of families coming together, sisterly drama, plenty of humour and a few twists and fireworks to make up the perfect wedding. What really did surprise is that for a book featuring an aspiring fashion designer, and some models, there was very little details of what designs Amber is working on, so by the time there are fashion shows roll around, its hard to feel empathy with Amber's neves, as I really couldn't picture anything that was going to be featured on the catwalks.

Her sister Lizzie however, is twenty three and out getting drunk most nights whilst being poor and struggling to get by as well as waking up in random bars. I really wanted to like this book but it just wasn’t for me. It seems I am in the minority according to goodreads however as a lot of people loved it! This follows the story of Amber, who is a Geordie girl living in London and trying to make her living as a fashion designer. The other characters are all well written, they are more than just props, I felt like we got to know them all, just enough. This is an easy to read book that seemed quite inconsistent in places. There is a storyline all to do with Amber's family that should be more emotional than it comes across, but yet elsewhere its all shine and little depth. I love my younger sister to pieces but I can see this story being one to Definetly relate too. Where families become strained due to choices in partnerships/ families.A lovely warming Christmas read. Full of sparkle, and love. I instantly liked Amber and found her a great main character. Amber is a sweet lovely girl with a heart of gold that makes a few mistakes like us all and had to make up for them. She loves her friends and family. She is guts and bulsey and a great main character. Next, Seffy. I don't have any words why she keeps following Nicole Balfour, like she could've said 'No, I will not do that for you' 'No, I hate that (whatever you have)' she has opinions, but she probs afraid of what Nicole would do if she said em aloud. I'm glad that Seffy is Lizzy's friend in the end, life finally she's out of Nicole's hair. I definetly agree with Lauren keeping an eye out at Seffy, cuz she don't trust her completly. I mean Seffy just completly came at Lizzy's flat and told her everything Nicole planned on the families, I'd say half sus but also half friendly, cuz she doesn't like Nicole too. I love Ambers flat mates and friends Tom and Jess they are exactly the kind of friends a girl needs in her life as they are there for her throughout and they all have lots of fun and happy times together. There is a lot of references to social media, fashion etc which will most definitely appeal/ relate to the YA readers.

Three or four drinks,” her voiceover tells us over scenes of her downing about that number of limoncello shots as the night starts, “and I’m sociable, fun and I can function the next day. Any more and I don’t know when to stop. I’d go so far as to say I can’t stop.” As driven and ambitious as she is, she notes, it’s the one thing she can’t seem to control. Possibly this would suit someone younger than my age group who is more in to all things celeb. The way it is written suggests a younger readership and I suspect I was not really in the right decade to suit the style of the book. But it was a fun read nevertheless and I would recommend it to someone a bit younger. To me this book had a real ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ feeling. It was a good read and different than my normal reads. The romance wasn’t really what I hoped it would be, but in the end it was really good and perfect for Amber’s character. I did think this book was a bit too long when I was half way through. I think this book would have been just as good if a view parts were left out. If there's any woman out there who is feeling like they're going through things on their own, or they're worried that they're not achieving what they should be, or feeling or looking how they should, I want this book to let you know you're not alone." From the moment I started reading this book I enjoyed it. Fashion isn’t really my thing, but reading about Amber’s life in London and her friends and adventures really made up for that. I loved getting a look inside Amber’s life. It was fun to read how she got to her ‘dream’ job and I especially loved getting to know Amber’s friends and family. Reading about those characters and the relationships they had with Amber were really the best part of the book if you ask me.

Where the book lost me a bit was on some of the minor characters like Nicole who I just could not identify with at all. She just seemed far too fake and over the top for me - are people really like that? I hope not. Most of the book I enjoyed very much but it lost me a bit with some of the minor or secondary characters who I did not like nor believe in. The sisters themselves were a great duo. A perfect summer read: full of sunshine and light breezes with occasional thunderstorms that clear up with rainbows at the end.

Very easy to read and impossible to put down; hence I read it in 15 hours (8 of which I was sleeping, then others spent cleaning house, preparing a family breakfast and the joy of Saturday swimming lessons at the local pool). Throughout the book it is told by the viewpoints of Lizzie and Bex Ashworth who are sisters. I loved the alternate viewpoints and it felt like I really got to know the characters more rather than it just being one sided. There are also the occasional chapters told from the viewpoint of Nicole Balfour, I also felt they added to the story however I wish we learnt more about Nicole. Amber Raey has always dreamed of designing her own fashion label. But her boos is a true nightmare. Has Amber working all hours and doing menial tasks like taking her dog for a walk instead of using Amber to her full potential. Amber doesn't mind too much thou as she knows it is the first stepping stone to getting her new job. The ending was a definite high point, so much had been sacrificed and it all just sat perfectly with the rest of the story.Relating the early years of their marriage before her ex-husband’s slide into alcoholism, Pattison’s mum Carroll explained, “We used to go out on a Friday and Saturday night and get drunk, but everybody did.” When does regularly overdoing it turn into a full-blown addiction? The Pattisons offered a generous glimpse into a struggle that spans generations and acres of moral grey. In fact it is a very enjoyable and entertaining story, focusing around the fashion industry and about what happens when you start to get a bit of press interest. These are clearly subjects that the author is going to know a lot about, and it does show in the way the story comes across. While the documentary format was new for Pattison, she’s no stranger to being in front of a camera. First finding fame on 2011’s Geordie Shore – in her words, a “controversial reality show, notorious for featuring a cast of twenty-somethings involved in some serious boozing” – Pattison had her youthful overindulgence watched by millions. Not her, though: “I never watched Geordie Shore, ever”, she explained. “I have complicated feelings about what that show made me become.” Amber Raey dreams of designer her own line, but that isn't going to happen in her current job. Working as a an assistant to one of the country's top designers, Amber is more likely to be dog-sitting than designing. But when Amber is approached by the head of a major fashion house, it seems all her dreams are about to come true, especially when she meets an American heartthrob who propels her into his life of glamour.
