Lincoln Wright has been working in the hobby industry as an artist for quite a number of years in Japan. While Linc demonstrates many types of media in his video work, he’s known for brush painting lacquers. I picked up a 1/35 Maschinen Krieger kit and was just wondering what the “rules” are for building these kits for competition.

And while we all want to have a certain “style”, the road to that lofty air is worn flat by the footprints of those in front of us. The sci-fi series Maschinen Krieger was created by artist Kow Yokoyama in the early 1980s and appeared in the popular magazine Hobby Japan.

Working with the creator is fantastic but also learning from people in the community who were involved when it was first released was extremely cool and rewarding too. It’s not something I’ve bothered with, and looking at various Categories/Judges Instructions on the net makes me glad I haven’t. While those are not paints that the typical Western modeler might think of for hand painting, it’s a part of the Maschinen Krieger style. Yes, the team was better than us… but I think had the roles been reversed, and Maxwell was on our team, we’d have won.

Of course there ‘s the purist approach we have come to expect, but the Maschinenkrieger KR52 sound also got a mindful update – the result being a strong contender, a contemporary blueprint for the genre. In addition to the movement of the joints of each part common to the series, the contents of the normal version such as the characteristic joint sealing cloth material, the LED light emission gimmick of the abdominal sensor, and the reproduction of the hatch open mechanism are inherited as they are. I date back to the era when building a space fighter generally meant doing something obscene to a SAAB Draken… Nowadays it’s a Golden Age with aftermarket parts to accuratise commercial models of machines from your favourite show/movie/game, but I still like to clag together bits of plastic that were never intended even be in the same room together or even be part of a “scale” model (sometimes I don’t know what scale an item is, or even what it is, when I form the opinion it’s more or less complete). Hobby Japan published a compilation of the first 15 SF3D installments in 1983 and reprinted them in March 2010. Trying to decide how i want to paint the camel now , I dont have the skill yet to match the box art or anyone else’s build, but thats one of the reasons I love the sci fi scale modeling, i dont have to make it look like the box art i can freestyle more or less and create my own narrative.

Paint is applied over it, but full coverage is not the goal as it often is with airbrushing or “traditional” brush painting. For the first time in about forty years Airfix have re-released their Beach Buggy kit which ( sans bodywork) provides a platform on which to build all sorts of transport, and Master Box provide figures to go with them. I tried it and ended up with a mess, until I hit the eureka moment like you did , let the paint do the work and place it instead of brushing it on! Numerous sourcebooks and modeling guides that further flesh out the information in the series have been released. He has been pretty relaxed with garage manufacturers doing stuff to supplement the big companies stuff, providing they ask him first.

In response, the colonists create the Earth Independent Provisional Government and declare independence from the SDR. A limited edition product is now available from Seiji Nuke to commemorate the 40th anniversary of [Maschinen Krieger]! K (as it is often abbreviated) is a scifi franchise focused on armor suits and other vehicles from a post-apocalyptic timeline in Earth’s future. K ZBV3000) is a science fiction universe created by Japanese artist and sculptor Kow Yokoyama in the 1980s. Good to know you played against a great player when he was young, a coworker was in the NFL and he was on the ice when Gretzky set the scoring record , he was like you, he went from anger to respect to pure awe and after the game he said he and his team mates were just ” wow ” .K or Maschinen Krieger studio for many years as one of the creative team working on the core content and decided that it might be a cool idea to share with you an insider’s perspective on what Ma. I’m actually catching up on some work today so no more modelling this weekend but it’s starting to come together. Most times it’s only because the purchasing staff don’t know what they are and bundle them with the aircraft range. Yokayama’s original models were scratch built, and in a unique twist, the stories were developed after the models.
