About this deal

If the procedure or notepad file you have chosen already exists on the Psion, you will be asked whether you want to overwrite it. If you choose N for no, then you will have to enter a different file name. In the case of a data file that already exists, you get the option of appending to the file (which will add the records of the incoming file to the end of the existing file) or to erase the file (which will erases all records of the existing file, before adding the incoming records). Although the current implementation is only unidirectional, it is probably possible to invent a protocol by which the "writer" can signal In 2003–4, Psion Teklogix and its founder David Potter expressed interest in Linux as the operating system for its devices as it divested from Symbian. [33] [34] [35] However, the only result of that interest was Linux as the operating system on a limited number of custom NetBook Pros designed for a hospital setting. [36] See that grey box with 'Comms Link' written on it? In there is a little chip which contains some terminal emulation/file-transfer software for the Psion, imaginatively called COMMS. If I connect the RS232 end to the Pi (via an RS232-to-TTL converter and possibly a 25-9 pin converter) and the other end to the Psion, I should be able to control a Pi terminal session using the Psion. Which is basically the aim of this project. On the Organiser, press ON/CLEAR in the main menu and then choose the COMMS menu option that has appeared as the second to last item.

outputs of the Arduino to the data pins via 510 ohm resistors (chosen mostly at random). This is low enough resistance to overcome the internal pullups on the data

SECTION 2

I've dismantled the Comms Link and I've managed to 'insert' a 5-volt TTL signal from an Arduino's serial pins to the Comms Link board, so that the data is received properly on the Organiser screen. Now I need to work out how to 'tap' outgoing 5-volt TTL signals on the Comms Link board before they get converted to RS232 and sent down the serial cable. Here's a hopefully not-too-confusing summary of what I've just attempted to describe! The 32-bit EPOC developed by Project Protea resulted in the eventual formation of Symbian Ltd. in June 1998 in conjunction with Nokia, Ericsson and Motorola. [8] The OS was renamed the Symbian Operating System and was envisioned as the base for a new range of smartphones. Psion gave 130 key staff to the new company and retained a 31% shareholding in the spun-out business. The Symbian operating system as of 2007 [update] powered around 125 million mobile phones, including many Nokia models and the Sony Ericsson P900 series. in its BASIC-like language, and it totally abuses the CPU's bus design. But it's simple and it works.

On the Psion, enter the COMMS menu, choose the BOOT option, and press EXE when prompted for a name. For retrieving and/or editing records you have previously saved, providing access via any aspect of their contents Early software releases for the ZX Spectrum included titles such as VU-Calc, VU-File and VU-3D along with dozens of other titles. [9]Connecting a 2-row pin header to a stripboard is not easy because there is no sensible way to connect to both rows. I solved this by

In addition to the above, many other industrial, one-off and special edition models were released, including a special edition with transparent housing. Some of these models have radically different keyboard layouts. So what do we do about this? The ideal solution is to put some glue logic between the Arduino and the organiser that tests the CS3 pin A far more sophisticated programming tool was later made available with the implementation of the Forth language, but was available to registered professional developers rather than end users. The Psion Forth Development System for the Organiser I was a powerful set of IBM PC-based cross-development tools for producing Forth application software, including a Forth compiler. The Forth system on the Organiser I had a compiler to intermediate code, interpreter and runtime, and had several unusual design features one being that it could interpret – that is, read and execute – Forth intermediate code directly in place on a Datapak, rather than needing to copy it into precious RAM first, despite the Datapaks not being execute-in-place memory-mapped. Most of the pins are identical between all 3 slots. If you try to assert something onto the bus while some other peripheralthe control signals properly, and we only need unidirectional communication, we can take a bit of a shortcut. I connected some digital Most pleasing of all though - my modified Comms Link with its added circuitry still just about fits inside the original Comms Link case* so that's a bonus if I ever venture out in public with the Organiser II again. Which I probably will :)
