So he dug deep, crafted his stories and churned them out, keeping readers continuously engaged and engrossed with his story of a young US soldier fighting aliens. A confluence of heroes! Having accepted defeat at the hands of their evil selves, our heroes await a grim death sentence in the dungeons of Jarmlek. Meanwhile, the Grommulon version of Sarrklon discovers a way to bend the dimensions to his will using the merged Dragonstars and formulates a plan to save the Dragonstar Force. But, it will take merging with himself from the prime dimension. Can his fractured psyche survive such a quantum entanglement, and will he manage to save our intrepid heroes? Sandstorm – A freak explosion in the British Museum in London ignites a perilous race for an earth-shaking power source buried deep beneath the sands of history. When an ancient artifact points the way toward the legendary ‘Atlantis of the Sands,’ Painter Crowe, an agent for Sigma Force, must travel across the world in search of the lost city–and a destructive power beyond imagining. There are hundreds of books on physics about force, gravity, and the way the objects of the universe interact. If you’re looking for a good one to read, whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned physics student, these six books are a great place to start. The force of gravity is the force with which the earth, moon, or other massively large object attracts another object towards itself. By definition, this is the weight of the object. All objects upon earth experience a force of gravity that is directed "downward" towards the center of the earth. The force of gravity on earth is always equal to the weight of the object as found by the equation: Fgrav = m * g where g = 9.8 N/kg (on Earth)

Even if you want to move on to more advanced, in-depth books on physics about force specifically, The Physics Book is a great handbook to have around. It will give you a clear understanding of physics in general without over-complicating any topics or bringing in the complex mathematics of physics. There are thirty (30) volumes in total and players can give Mitch a copy of the book until he has all of them to get XP and Credits.Friction forces can also exist when the two surfaces are not sliding across each other. Such friction forces are referred to as static friction. Static friction results when the surfaces of two objects are at rest relative to one another and a force exists on one of the objects to set it into motion relative to the other object. Suppose you were to push with 5-Newton of force on a large box to move it across the floor. The box might remain in place. A static friction force exists between the surfaces of the floor and the box to prevent the box from being set into motion. The static friction force balances the force that you exert on the box such that the stationary box remains at rest. When exerting 5 Newton of applied force on the box, the static friction force has a magnitude of 5 Newton. Suppose that you were to push with 25 Newton of force on the large box and the box were to still remain in place. Static friction now has a magnitude of 25 Newton. Then suppose that you were to increase the force to 26 Newton and the box finally budged from its resting position and was set into motion across the floor. The box-floor surfaces were able to provide up to 25 Newton of static friction force to match your applied force. Yet the two surfaces were not able to provide 26 Newton of static friction force. The amount of static friction resulting from the adhesion of any two surfaces has an upper limit. In this case, the static friction force spans the range from 0 Newton (if there is no force upon the box) to 25 Newton (if you push on the box with 25 Newton of force). This relationship is often expressed as follows: F frict-static ≤μ frict-static• F norm The symbol μ frict-static represents the coefficient of static friction between the two surfaces. Like the coefficient of sliding friction, this coefficient is dependent upon the types of surfaces that are attempting to move across each other. In general, values of static friction coefficients are greater than the values of sliding friction coefficients for the same two surfaces. Thus, it typically takes more force to budge an object into motion than it does to maintain the motion once it has been started. Richard Feynman is one of the most famous physicists in history. His lectures on physics have become famous and make a fantastic entryway into the field. Six Easy Pieces is the best place to start reading Feynman’s work. It covers six easy topics in physics, including force. Considering the frequent nature of his publishing schedule, specifically the fact that he releases so many full-length novels in a year, it should come as no surprise to learn that Alanson is self-published. They stood no real chance, not against the Ruhar. But just when all seemed lost, the Kristang swooped in to save the day. The second alien race to grace the earth with its presence, the Kristang ships sent the Ruhar running.

By 2017, the author had added two more novels and a novella to the Expeditionary Force series. By 2018, that figure had risen to 7 novels and a novella; Alanson was on fire. He knew he only had a short window to make his mark on the publishing industry. If you’re new to physics or science in general, The Physics Book by DK Publishing is the perfect place to start. Anyone can learn about physics, but it helps to begin with a simplified overview of basic physics topics.

However, casual readers are not quite as forgiving. Indie published novels have a reputation for being poorly edited and, unfortunately, Alanson’s debut novels only strengthened that argument. Traditional publishing is normally a slower avenue with a variety of processes that must be maneuvered before a book can reach the shelves of a bookstore. So you rarely see traditionally published authors releasing more than one novel in any given year.

Before the publication of ‘Expeditionary Force’, most people had no idea that Craig Alanson existed. ‘Expeditionary Force’ put him on the publishing map. People were drawn in by his story of a United States soldier who takes to the stars to fight an alien force that might or might not wish him harm. A few further comments should be added about the single force that is a source of much confusion to many students of physics - the force of gravity. As mentioned above, the force of gravity acting upon an object is sometimes referred to as the weight of the object. Many students of physics confuse weight with mass. The mass of an object refers to the amount of matter that is contained by the object; the weight of an object is the force of gravity acting upon that object. Mass is related to how much stuff is there and weight is related to the pull of the Earth (or any other planet) upon that stuff. The mass of an object (measured in kg) will be the same no matter where in the universe that object is located. Mass is never altered by location, the pull of gravity, speed or even the existence of other forces. For example, a 2-kg object will have a mass of 2 kg whether it is located on Earth, the moon, or Jupiter; its mass will be 2 kg whether it is moving or not (at least for purposes of our study); and its mass will be 2 kg whether it is being pushed upon or not. One assumes that Alanson chose to pursue indie publishing because the avenue allows him to tell the stories he enjoys in the format that suits him. However, the author has been known to field complaints regarding the quality of his work.

The Physics Book uses a lot of visuals to help explain the foundations of physics. It covers a variety of topics, such as the physics of force, energy, electricity, sound, light, and even more advanced physics niches like relativity and quantum physics. Even on the quantum level, objects exert forces on each other. Quantum physics works quite differently from traditional physics, though. If you want to get a complete picture of the physics of force, you’ll need to learn a bit about quantum physics. He got a promotion out of the whole deal but now something grim awaits his future. Joe agreed to take a captured alien starship out into space for a foolish mission he knew he would never survive.

Desperate times, desperate measures! When Sarklonn reveals his plan to destroy all the dragons in the galaxy with the Dragonstar, Jeffrex Laserbrand and the rest of the Dragonstar Force must form an uneasy alliance with their former Dragon foes, the dragonspawn of Fraxitarr! The dragons arm Jeffrex with a new weapon of their own creation, the laser-axe, Glorybringer, in hopes he can use it to bring Sarrklon's reign to an end. The first couple of novels he wrote were quite notorious for their many grammatical and spelling errors. Interestingly enough, the issue did little to debilitate the author’s success. A universe at peace! All seems well for the Dragonstar Force. Jeffrex Laserbrand, having successfully restored the natural balance of the universe, has settled in with Princess Laglorial on her homeworld of Zlaxx. When vacationing offworld with their newborn son, a massive explosion rends their homeworld apart. The Dragonstar Force reconvenes to avenge the planet's sudden destruction, but what they find, haunts them. The latent power of the Ultra Dragonstar manifests as a Phantom Dragon, merged with the life force of Sarrklon, and it seeks revenge on the Dragonstar Force. Can they defeat an enemy they can't see?

Mind over matter! Having escaped from the Grommulon dimension with the intact Dragonstar, the Dragonstar Force now finds themselves trapped in prisons of their own minds. It turns out that merging with evil alternate-dimension versions of themselves has caused more problems than it may have solved. Now, our heroes fight for their very souls and must battle their own personal demons if they wish to survive! The air resistance is a special type of frictional force that acts upon objects as they travel through the air. The force of air resistance is often observed to oppose the motion of an object. This force will frequently be neglected due to its negligible magnitude (and due to the fact that it is mathematically difficult to predict its value). It is most noticeable for objects that travel at high speeds (e.g., a skydiver or a downhill skier) or for objects with large surface areas. Air resistance will be discussed in more detail in Lesson 3. Return to Top Unlikely alliances! Having failed her plans for revenge thus far, Shussalina goes into exile, and the universe is seemingly at peace once again. However, a strange new alien race, the Glotzians, appear. Surrounding the Galactic Council's homeworld, they demand immediate surrender. Tanskler and the New Dragonstar Force race to its rescue, but find their new Glotzian foes too much to handle. During their retreat, the Dragonstar Force rescues an old drifter, who turns out to be the mysterious Montelvaughn. He brings them to the far reaches of space, where they meet Grimmtongue the Nebula Wyrm, the most ancient of all dragons, who promises to help, for a price.
