With the throttle, brake, horn, and LED headlight, and command center integrated into the top bar, the elegance of the Unagi Model One is without question. No surprise, then, that more than thirty prototypes were required before the final handlebar design came together. Frame Physically, the Model One Voyager looks every bit like the Model One Classic, which is all well and good. No one needs to reinvent the wheel – unless, of course, the wheels just aren’t cutting it, which is the case here. It also inherits the Classic’s 7.5-inch solid tires, which to their credit, are puncture-proof due to their nature. Fun fact: Unagi’s CEO and founder David Hyman is also the founder of MOG, an early Spotify competitor, which was then acquired by Beats by Dre and later by Apple. Hyman then served as CEO of Beats Music until it was acquired by Apple and became Apple Music. Unagi uses rubber, rather than inflatable wheels for its scooter, but instead of a solid mass, they have slots around the circumference, which in theory offers a smoother ride without the danger of getting a flat. Riding around on the Unagi's 7.5-inch tires was definitely smoother than the Glion Dolly (which also has rubber wheels), but nowhere near as pleasant as the Levy, which uses larger, 8.5-inch inflatable tires.

This e-scooter comes with both dual electronic brakes and a rear foot brake for your peace of mind. The electronic brakes used in concert with the foot brake are very responsive, allowing the Unagi to come to a complete stop from full speed in just under 17 feet (5.18 m). (The electronic brake by itself takes a little longer, at 25 ft / 7.62 m). No expense is spared with the Unagi’s composition and so it makes sense that the carbon fiber frame is made by TORAY – the number-one carbon fiber producer in performance, quality, and volume. In layman’s terms, TORAY carbon fiber has unparalleled strength whilst also being incredibly lightweight.

The Unagi is brilliantly built using high-end material for durability, portability, and reliability. The dual 250W motors can propel the scooter through all manner of terrain- though with a preference for urban terrain. The Sony customized lithium battery is reliable and efficient, with longer battery life and a decent mileage on a single charge. The grips are firmly fused to the handlebars and don’t shift when holding onto them. The benefit of airless tyres is that they’re completely puncture-proof. However, you do sacrifice a good degree of comfort over pneumatic tyres. While the Model One electric scooter rides superbly on flat, smooth tarmac, when you’re on paving slabs or any surface that’s less than perfectly smooth, you can feel all the lumps and bumps through your hands and feet.
