Description

The Himmler Brothers raises more questions than it answers, but that doesn't lessen in the slightest my admiration of Katrin Himmler for having written it. I think Katrin Himmler has been very brave to tackle this subject , imagine having had Heinrich in YOUR family ? It shows the relationship and set of circumstances after WW1 that brought Hitler and his gang of criminals to power !

This edition of private Himmler documents found in Israel was made in close cooperation with the filmmaker Vanessa Lapa. Furthermore, if those who decide the allocations of the real and unreal are cruel, mad or colossally wrong, what then? I bought this book having seen the author on a television programme about the family members of the most notorious Nazis. For her this was a turning point: she realised once and for all just how deeply her grandfather and her great-uncle Gebhard were in thrall to their brother's murderous racial policies. She is the granddaughter of Ernst Himmler (1905–1945), who was the younger brother of Heinrich Himmler, one of the leading figures of Nazi Germany. Impelled by a request from her father, Ms Himmler began her journey believing her family's narrative.

Katrin Himmler is a freelance author, holding readings and lectures in Germany and abroad, above all for students.Originally written as self-therapy, the book stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of guilt the Nazis left behind for future generations. It is not the authoritative book on Heinrich Himmler but does lend context and perspective on the man. Despite her family being told her grandfather Ernst had had no interest in politics, Katrin discovered that he was an enthusiastic Nazi who had joined the party in 1931, and was also an officer in the Schutzstaffel (SS). About the Author: Katrin Himmler is the great-niece of Heinrich Himmler, head of the SS, Gestapo and leading organiser of the Holocaust.

Please Note: By their very nature, all signed books will have been handled several times before they get to you. This is a very well-written and profoundly honest story of the family of a monster - but an ordinary man who lived in extraordinary times.

When Katrin Himmler, Heinrich's great-niece, was fifteen, one of her school mates asked during a history lesson if she was related to the Himmler. There are parallels , extremism ,this time of a religious nature is rearing its ugly head again throughout the world ,again ordinary well educated individuals are having their minds poisoned by a few who simply want power for themselves ,collectively we have the power to nip it in the bud and banish it forever , but do we have the courage ? Robert Hawks, however, wrote in The Independent: "Katrin does try to turn some equivocal evidence into revelations of her family's complicity, but her prosecutorial stance gets in the way of empathy. Gebhard served in the German Army in World War I, but Heinrich, who at 18 was still an officer cadet when the war ended, was too young to see frontline service.
