Description

In a quest to find the one thing she’s missing she begins a bold new life in Dublin. But she’s left a lot behind. Sometimes the people who have the power to change your life are the ones who have been there all along… After completing a degree in Journalism and Media Communications, Cecelia wrote her first novel at 21 years old. Her debut novel, PS I Love You was published in January 2004, and was followed by Where Rainbows End (aka Love, Rosie) in November 2004. Both novels were adapted to films; PS I Love You starred Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler, and Love, Rosie starred Lily Collins and Sam Claflin.

I point out that she went to journalism college but she says, “I was really bad at that part of it. I loved radio and film and TV and not the print side …” Whether what happens would have happened anyway we don’t know, but Allegra is confronted by the idea that she really doesn’t have ‘five people’ so decides to find inspirational people to connect with (and rub off on her obvs). She and her books have won numerous awards, including the Irish Book Award for Popular Fiction for The Year I Met You. She has published several novels and contributed a number of short stories to various anthologies. Ahern also created and produced the ABC comedy Samantha Who? starring Christina Applegate.

My heart went out to Allegra and at times I felt very sorry for her, which when I was not reading made me think of how different people go through life and the struggles we all undertake to find out where we belong. First of all, I can’t read an Ahern book without wanting to visit Ireland. She brings the towns and cities to life; creating such interesting characters that I want to walk down the street and meet for myself. I certainly feel myself immersed in the worlds she creates.

Her second book, Where Rainbows End (U.S. Love, Rosie), also reached number 1 in Ireland and the UK, and won the German CORINE Award in 2005. [9] It was adapted as a motion picture titled Love, Rosie which was released in 2014, directed by Christian Ditter and starring Lily Collins and Sam Claflin.

There is a small group of support characters. Some are great, some are less so, but they all add up to making Allegra who she is whether she likes it or not. I'm always up for reading a book by Cecelia Ahern, she always brings the unexpected with her women's fiction and contemporary tales. This one however, didn't hit the spot for me although the format of audio was pretty great and kept me going.

I loved Allegra’s voice. Ahern delivers her narrative in a very conversational way reflecting her personality. There’s a very ‘matter of fact’ tone to her writing that makes this very accessible and engaging. Her legacy from her mother is more complicated - until one question from a stranger inspires a change. What if it isn't about fitting in, but finding the people who make you who you are? Who would those people be? A: When I was fourteen years old I started writing my first novel, ‘Beans on Toast and a Bottle of Beer’ but unfortunately I never finished it. I still have the copy now! But seriously, PS I Love You was my first attempt at getting something published and I suppose there are two reasons for that. Firstly, I had completed my degree and it was time to look at the rest of my life and who and what I wanted to be, and secondly, I had never felt so passionate about anything I had written before. I was proud of PS I Love You and wanted to share it with others, whereas anything I had written before was private. Die Autorin weiß wie man sympathische reale Charaktere schafft und überzeugt auch hier wieder mit wundervollen Menschen und lebenswerten Momenten.I think I am going to be in the minority with this book when I say that I was very disappointed in it. Kidman is “so sharp, the way she analyses things …,” says Ahern, who is an executive producer on the project. “I am learning a lot.” She is also writing another TV series and working alongside her husband on the production elements. Boxing Cecelia Ahern (born 30 September 1981) is an Irish novelist, known for her works like PS, I Love You; Where Rainbows End; and If You Could See Me Now. Born in Dublin, Ahern is now published in nearly fifty countries, and has sold over 25 million copies of her novels worldwide. Two of her books have been adapted as major motion films. The short story collection Roar has been adapted as a series for Apple TV+. Thank you netgalley and Harper Collins for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
