Futuristic vehicles are not generally what appeal to me about NINJAGO, although 71737 X-1 Ninja Charger looks marvellous. The racing aesthetic is notably successful in my opinion and the vehicle appears powerful so retains that feature of 70727 X-1 Ninja Charger as well, even though its prominence is arguably reduced. Personally, I appreciate such substantial changes but I recognise that many fans prefer subtler alterations for Legacy sets. The excitement doesn't stop there. Ninja fans will be thrilled with this modern update of the Boulder Blaster (71736) shooting airplane to stage exhilarating battles from season 4 of the LEGO® NINJAGO® TV series. The airplane toy has 8 spring-loaded shooters on its rotating front to aim rapid fire at the evil Eyezor or at the prison building to release the captured Lloyd. Outstanding power and speed were the most important aspects of 70727 X-1 Ninja Charger during 2014 and this updated rendition preserves those features. The bodywork seems quite aerodynamic and I love how varied curved shapes transition smoothly. This vehicle measures nearly 24cm in length so is certainly substantial, although that only narrowly exceeds the past design.LEGO® NINJAGO® has an amazing collection of cool toys for kids to enjoy hours of imaginative fun as they learn crucial life skills and embark on adventures with their ninja heroes. Despite that extra piece count, though, the newer version actually measures just 1cm longer at 23cm and in fact 2cm shorter (7cm) and 1cm thinner (11cm) than its predecessor.

Makeover to one side, though, and essentially the set remains the same, based around the singular function of the bike sitting in the middle of the car and being able to be shot out the front. We say shot out – the furthest we could get it to push out unassisted was a few centimetres.
